yes, it helps you wake up after REM cycles, naturally that is when your body would tell you to wake up because you have to go to the bathroom, and you remember your dreams best right after REM when you just had them. |

You can accomplish the same thing by waking up in the middle of the night using an alarm clock, which you say you don't want to do. You could try doing it just once per night, after 6 hours would be best. Write down your dreams, it will only take a couple minutes to scribble down some notes, then go back to sleep and you'll barely miss any sleep. |
