Your body hurt after you woke up?

You might have been just getting out of sleep paralysis...where your body can feel sort of achey. Was it like this at all?

ah, sorry bout that I miss-read it,

but its important to remember that when dreaming you shouldn’t really ever believe that you have full control

hrm. i thought he was saying his body hurt in the dream. i guess i'd say that's not supposed to happen, but it's also really not not supposed to happen either. dreams are inherently unreliable, and odd things are always going to take place. i would imagine that won't happen next time, but if it does, try convincing yourself that it shouldn't hurt.

Were you spinning in order to remain lucid or were you trying to "spin a new dream scene?" If you were, what were you trying to change the dream scape too?

As icedawg said, odd things do sometimes happen. Maybe at the moment you began to spin you thought that it should hurt.
It seems in lucid dreams you always have to fight the laws of physics. But to no suprise we have to live most of our lives around them. So from time to time these thoughts interact with that of our dream reality.

Nothing is supposed to happen in a dream. Sponteneity is the name of the game. I think that you were able to use spinning to try to stay in the dream is great! New dreamers usually have a hard time using such techniques.

Other techniques to stay in the dream are to rub your hands together, rub your arms/legs/body etc. This helps increase the vividness of your dream body--the more you settle into your dream body, the less likely it is your dream will fade. This is also why spinning works so well, it forces you to coordinate your movements and experience a full-body sensation. The only problem with spinning is that you can't focus on the environment very well.

Whenever I'm lucid, I always rub my hands. Kind of as a prevention for waking. It's very helpful.

Eh? I thought the whole point was that you DO, theoretically have full control, what with it being all in your head and all. Can you elaborate on that statement please? (especially in reference to the original post, I don't quite get it :-) ).

I disagree. It's all about confidence. You can't expect to ever have full control if you don't believe that you will.

That being said, no matter how much you believe, you may still find things don't go according to plan. But if you are at a high level of lucidity, and truly believe that you can control things, you'll find that you can do a lot -- perhaps some people more than others.
