      When do we dream?

I have heard that we only dream in rem,
But I have also heard that we just dream more vividly in rem.
      So witch is true?
If we do dream out of rem how often throughout the night do we?
      And what are they like?

I know people say that dreams are just thoughts and so we are always dreaming because we are always thinking so we are dreaming right now.
But I don't mean it like that.

I think you had the right answer in the second sentence, we dream more vividly in REM.

Yes, i agree. You also dream in non-REM but more than 70% of your dreams occur in REM.

As dreams CAN occur in any stage of the night, that would mean lucidity could as well, HOWEVER the quality would be something that could be debated, and to another extent, how much you could remember would be of question as well, We mainly dream in REM sleep as pointed out above, Sleep Cycles last 90 minutes approx, and we have much more REM time after a few hours of sleep.

Could it be, so plain to see, the night is still so young for me.

I think non-REM dreams are less vivid and shorter. Lucid dreams in them are also generally speaking, less stable. Don't quote me on that, though. Can someone clarify this?
