      Question Help a newbie!

Hello DV! I am a 16 year old male, and I've been a lurker here for quite some time but just recently decided to take the plunge and make a real account. I hope to become a very involved member of this community as well as becoming an avid lucid dreamer.

Aside from the 3 or so natural lucid dreams I had when I was a child, I have yet to be successful in inducing a lucid experience intentionally. I use the DILD technique and occasionally drink some apple juice before hitting the sack.

I was just curious as to how long it took some of you more experienced members to induce your first lucid dream. Also, could somebody provide me some more detailed tips on the awareness thing besides the two main tutorials? I've already read them and attempt to practice extreme awareness but I feel as if somebody could explain what exactly should be going through my head when doing this.

Thank you in advance, and it's nice to finally be a member here!

      Welcome to DV ^_^

It took me 3 days to have a lucid dream after actually looking it up, reading about it, etc. I had some LDs before that, but not an insane amount.

Which ones did you read? SAT and ADA? Hmm, my tips, just try to be aware in general, about everything. First learn to be aware of yourself. Be aware of what you are feeling, what is going on around you, what actions you do, just in general every day life. Without thinking you have to do it for lucid dreaming, it will naturally help.

If you have any more questions feel free to PM me, another dream guide, or ask in your thread here :3

It took me two or three days after first reading about and dedicating myself to it. As far as saying what exactly is necessary for awareness, I think the only sufficient response would be that everyone has a different level of awareness from the beginning, it just takes practice. You'll be fine if you follow the tips on the site.

      Welcome to DV~

It was so long ago that I don't remember how long it took for my first LD. I think it was within a month or something, though....not sure. It took me several months to LD regularly, and at least a few years to have them nightly. However, all I had was one kind of RC and telling myself "I will have a LD tonight." I didn't know to keep a dream journal and I didn't have any place like DV to talk to people at the time.

To cultivate awareness, imo you should look into meditation. Simple breathing meditations or walking meditations are really perfect for helping you understand what awareness really is. Good luck.

Yup SAT and ADA! I often forget to do miniature awareness sessions throughout the day because I get quite busy. I hope that's understandable!

I have to say, I found out about LD'ing and even though I am a very passionate Dreamer I did not make it an active desire to LD, due to the nature of my life at that time, However after about 2 months of study I had my First Lucid in 2008 which was a DILD and after that, I bought a lifelong pass for the Lucid Express, I am NEVER getting off

Could it be, so plain to see, the night is still so young for me.
