Thread: Word up. im new and would like to introduce myself.

Hello. My name is Dave Green and i am 20 years old. I have been having lucid dreams as long as i can remember. It was only when i heard there was a name for what i was doing that i realised it was something special. I began to take it seriously about three years ago and got to a point of having at least one a night for a long period. In my first experiments i was mainly concerned with the wish fufulling benifits but gradually moved onto other things.

Being an art student it seemed natural for me to try and incorporate my art practice into my dreaming practice so i begun to make drawings in my dreams, recreating them upon awakening. Although this was an interesting experiment the pencil on paper didnt seem to do the lucid dream state justice.

During the last 6 months or so with my moving away from home to study i have slacked abit on my lucid dreaming, coming back to it occasionally, trying to incorporate it into my artwork with no real success. I am back home now for the summer and am using the long morning naps to get my lucids back. I hope this site will further my dreaming experiences and its a really good site by the way. cheers.

Wow, sounds like you're a natural. You know, I'm quite partial to the napping thing too for LDs. I attain lucidity more efficiently and naturally when I'm either napping or sleeping in.

Hey, have you given any thought to starting a dream journal, that is to say, if you don't have one already?

Yeah, its all about the sleeping in. A good 90% of my lucids come in that stage when your half asleep and half awake. I shift from waking thoughts into dreams and prepare myself to realise it is a dream as i slip into it. I have kept up quite a steady dream journal in the past with drawings and all. I'm gonna start doing one again. I wish i could do it here on the computer but it isnt in my room so its too impractical. That is a really good feature of the site though, having people have their dream journals for all to see. The whole site is realy good and has been a long time coming. lucid dreaming is an absolutley incredible thing and dosn't get nearly the amount of attention it should. A community like this where people can share their views and opinions is exactly what lucid dreaming needs. The more we build up this collective documentation of our experience the greater our understanding will become.
