      Fresh Meat!

Hey guys and girls. I'm new to the forum and pretty new to lucid dreaming, by that i mean that i have had lucid dreams but usually they are very short and Ive never had them with any consistency. Im starting a dream journal tonight and hopefully that helps. Do you have any tips to help me out?

      Happy Dreaming!

      Hey ryndisher

You might have already read about it, but it's also a good idea to do frequent reality checks (without letting them become an unconscious habit). You could pick out certain people/places/things that you see often in your dreams (called dream signs), and train yourself to do a reality check whenever you see them in real life. Hopefully this will help you to question your surroundings in the dream and do RCs whenever you see those dream signs.

There are some good tutorials on the site, too. Puffin's DILD Guide is really helpful.

      Good luck

The only tips I can think to give are:

      1. Make sure you read the tutorials.
      2. Be confident and don't doubt yourself.
      3. If you fail then just keep trying.
      4. Don't run, shoot.

      Good luck.

One more question for you guys. How long are you lucid dreams? The few i remember have been short lived, anything from what seems like 10 seconds to 2 or 3 minutes.

      Welcome to DV!

Best tip - just look around - read the tutorials in the wiki, and get a book called Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by some guy named LaBerge.

I've had lucid dreams that end the second I become lucid and I have had a few lucid dreams that lasted almost an hour. I think it usually depends on how stable the dream is, what time of night it is, and what kind of dream it is.

^ This. Plus most peoples' 1st few lucids are only a few seconds long. For one thing you get too excited and that will wake you up. But as you get more used to the feeling that initial excitement will wear off and you'll be able to remain lucid longer.

Yeah the one that was only 5 seconds i remember quite well still. I was walking through my high schools hallway and i just thought, maybe this is a dream. Tried to push my finger through my hand and sure enough it went through. Got excited, everything started to blur to black, i tried spinning but i awoke. Into what i realize now was a false awakening. Wish me luck tonight!

Get yourself used to always RCing whenever you wake up and you'll be able to turn those FAs into LDs.

      And good luck tonight!!

      Welcome to Dreamviews!
The best tips I would say are question your reality all the time or live your waking life like it's a dream, therefore, don't get lucid, be lucid. Whenever you question reality, you should follow it up with a reality check. Then, you can be sure if you're dreaming or not. Most of my lucid dreams are around the 5 minutes mark, then they're mostly prematurely ended from me not stabalising properly, hahah!

Any questions about lucid dreaming? Drop me a PM here!
