      Was I Close?

Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster

A couple of nights ago I had fallen asleep at 6:00 PM. accidentally and then woek up at 12:00, awake and ready to do anything, so I watched a couple of movies and then around 3:00 AM I decide to go to sleep and try out WILD seeing as how I hadn't slept completely and I could go to sleep almost instantly if I was so inclined.

Anyways, moving on, several times I kept hearing these voices, I can't really remember what they said, but they were obviously a sleep-type phenomenon. I read somewhere else that hearing voices means you're on the verge of going into a lucid dream. Is this true? If so, I'm going to have to pratice because I either forget they're audio hallucinations and get scared, or I focus too much on them. Any tips on survivng this part? Thanks!

Surely!!! You were experiencing hypnogogic auditory hallucinations...it's quite normal. It also means that you may have been quite close to entering into a lucid dream. After the hypnogogic hallucination stage you just sort of follow the pretty swirling colors (I know it sounds kinda silly now) and eventually they form into images and will take you into a lucid dream. I suggest you try to do the wake back to bed method...where you sleep for about 5 hours...then get up for a bit...then lay back down and have a WILD. I bet you would have alot of success with that since it sounds like you nearly had success with this before.

If you have anymore questions feel free to shoot me a PM anytime.

I believe in lucid dreaming completely, and I have experienced the hypnogonic colours before, but I can't ever imagine how that might turn into actual images and transform me into the dream. That's my one fear of it all, that since I can't imagine it happening, I'll have too much difficulty getting to do it and give up, haha. Thanks for the help by the way.

I really think you should give the WILD technique a shot. I think that you would have alot of success with this method. And it's a great way to learn all the stages that your body goes through before it enters a dream. The sleep paralysis...the vibrations...the hypno imagery and sounds...and then you can eventually follow your hyno imagery and before you know it you are dreaming!! The hardest part is trying to stay conscious through that stage and not lose it and just fall asleep. That's why it is key to either WILD after you have slept 5 hours...in the early morning...or during an early nap. It is very difficult to WILD at night b/c your body just wants to go to sleep. At least those have been my experiences. Anyway...give it a shot...and familiarize yourself with the transition. Also keep in mind that it won't keep easy and may take a few or several times to make it all the way from total consciousness into a dream through a WILD. GOOD LUCK!!!!
