      Talking Long and Winding Road

Hello my fellow Dreamers, Just thought I'd say hello and introduce myself.
My name is James and let us just rule out any Twilight related jokes already - no I don't sparkle, I do know a Jacob but he's not big and buff and he can definitely keep hit shirt on and yes I do bite
Anyway back to topic . .
I've been attempting lucidity for a little while now, on and off depending on how frantic life gets. hopefully with some more experienced dreamers helping I should get there in no time
That's pretty much all I have to say, so don't be afraid to drop me a message or look at my posts.

Could you talk me through one of your own methods , and what method do you find to be most successful?

I don't entirely have 'my own method yet'. The method I have most success with is WILD although, I would recommend MILD.

Sorry about that- I kinda got hung up on the phone.

Would you say there is a big step up from MILD to WILD for beginners?

Once you have your first WILD, it gets a lot easier. Though, I would say that MILD is an easier success rate for beginners. Saying that, by all means try WILD if you're interested in it

Heheh, I do! Although i've been a bit lazy lately.. Each time I think of lucid dreaming or MILD directly, I do about 30s - 1 minute of mantras and then mantra for about a minute before bed. Of course, with regularity and practice, you have a lot bigger of a success rate. During WBTBs if i'm feeling it, I attempt a WILD
It's not necessary to limit yourself to one technique, but one thing you must stick to is consistency. If you're going to try a technique, at least stick with it for two months. Until then, you won't know if you're seeing real results.
Another thing you should keep in mind, is mindset. With any technique that you use, it's important to be confident about it. If you're to choose MILD and use a mantra e.g. "I will lucid tonight", "I am lucid" or "I am dreaming" don't just say it, really believe in what you say. That's not to say you should word out the mantra perfectly. If you like the sound of one of them, go for it, but make sure you're confident in your own abilities.

"I know I am dreaming" is the most common one for me to use. It helps to envision what you want to do in the lucid dream aswell. This all comes with getting yourself into the mindset of "I will lucid dream" (hey, that can be a mantra too!). Some people find it better to use mantras in present tense, to get themselves into the mindset of

Indeed I have started to notice it . .
Should you think this mantra through in your head or literally say it to yourself over and over? I know it varies from person to person but what are your own personal views?

Really, it shouldn't make a difference. Depending on how tired I am, i do both. I may whisper it under my breath or if I'm really tired and want to just lay in bed while going over the mantra, I may do it in my head.

Do you have any rituals or anything you do before you go to bed? I guess the mantra is one thing but are there any others?

I usually brush my teeth. LOL. But in seriousness, I don't do anything other than that apart from relaxation. Which i just lay/sit in bed and steady my breath. If you're interested, just click here.

Definitely dude. Don't make it harder than it is. All you have to do is realise you're in a dream, how hard can it be? ^_^
