Another thread added to the heap

Hello my fellow lucid dreamers! This is my first post ever on this site, and probably my 3rd ever in my life! I've always lurked around forums for ages and have read thousands upon thousands of posts. I believe my title of lurker is very appropriate

Anywho, I believe that since I have been "lurking" around these forums for a few days now, I've decided to create an account and join in the fun. I hope to add many contributions to the community.

My name is Brandon and if anyone reads this... HI!

Thats it for now. *End post *

I believe I have excellent dream recall, but only if I write it down right after I wake up. I'm able to recall at least two or three every night so the next step for me is to start working towards that LD right? But my problem is that I do RC's often during the day, but once I fall asleep I never think to RC in my dreams and the thought of LD'ing completely disappears. Its as if the idea of a LD is gone in my sleep even though I spend hours thinking about it during the day and reading the forums. How can I spark the idea of LD in my sleep without using outside sources ie: music, lights?

I have the same problem. I'm slowly building up my dream journal. I've had 1 controllable LD and the rest were LD semi/LD. I'm trying to identify common themes (dream signs) and once I have those identified I'm intending to repeat the mantra "If I experience [whatever] I'll do a RC" during the relaxation stage before sleep. This is a meditative form of auto-suggestion so if I come across any dream signs I'll do a RC. I've read that this is what you're supposed to do. Whether it works for me or not I'm yet to see. Perhaps it will for you.

      Good luck

Hi Brandon! To answer your question -- Here's a bit of what I do to 'spark' a lucid dream. In the mornings when I wake up for school, I notice that my alarm clock is incorporated into my dreams for a few seconds. A few weeks ago, I was dreaming of sitting in class (shitty right) and the teachers phone started ringing. He walked over to it, looked at me and told me I was dreaming. I woke up. The ring on the phone was my alarm clock. So I decided to download a soft melody or something to play after a certain amount of time. Luckily there is an android application that has helped me achieve this =) So whenever that plays I know I'm dreaming. Another thing you could do before bed is listen to lucid dream induction videos on youtube. They will play relaxing beats (or creepy. Which helps better strangely) with different variations of a voice saying "You are dreaming" "Are you dreaming" "Tonight I am going to have a lucid dream" basically hypnotic. They're strange but they work as well =).

If you need any further assistance feel free to send me a private message.

Edit: I'm sorry I just noticed you said without using outside sources =(

Edit Edit: I think I have found your problem. You are trying to lucid dream when you go to bed at night. This is probably the worst time to lucid dream and not a lot of people can do this. Go to bed as normal. Set your alarm clock for 5 or 6 hours later. When you wake up, stay awake for 25-30 minutes and then go back to bed. Focus on your breathing. You will begin to auditory/visually hialucinate. If you've reached these, youi've slipped into sleep paralysis. Don't worry. It's harmless. Your body will be numb feeling and YAY YOU CAN'T MOVE. If you see a "demon" holding you down like I do.. don't worry. He's a hallucination. Focus on the images and keep in mind you are about to lucid dream. Make sure to not get excited and keep your mind clear.

It is recommended that you are able to recall at least one dream per night before attempting to induce lucid dreams. Since you can recall two or three dreams per night, I suggest you try out different induction techniques and find out which one works best for you.

But even though you already have good recall, I still suggest you continue to keep a dream journal and improve your recall even further. The better dream recall you have, the easier it will be to induce lucid dreams.

This technique (the WILD technique), is usually only recommended for experienced lucid dreamers. I don't know how much experience you have, but if you're still rather new to lucid dreaming I suggest you start with a different technique, for example the DILD technique or the MILD technique. However, if you feel the WILD technique is the technique for you, then I don't see why you shouldn't give it a try.

Daily reality checks are helping to train your prospective memory. You are building your ability to remember to remember to do something. This skill needs to be totally maxed out to be able to transfer it into your sleep. Performing reality checks, cataloging dream signs, and working on your awareness are all helping to build this skill.

If you want to greatly increase your chances, try a WBTB (Wake Back To Bed) a few nights per week. Take a few minutes out of the night to remind yourself of your intention. Picture yourself performing a reality check in a dream.

The reason I said no outside sources is because I don't have internet at home and the only reason I can even get on these forums is through my phone. But even then I hardly have signal (Unfortunately I live in the middle of nowhere ) And thanks for your edited edit I'll try that on sunday. I'm going to be staying in a hotel with my family tonight and they might get upset if an alarm goes off in the middle of the night XD although I could claim its an accident 0. One more thing. Is it possible to WILD when you normally would go to bed? or is that too difficult? I've never experienced sleep paralysis while conscious, but I think I'd find it more interesting and cool than scary.

Edit: Thanks Robot_Butler. I think I need to head back to the tutorials section and read up on dream signs. I made it a habit of writing in my DJ before and after I sleep so I can get the thoughts of LD'ing in my head and plan out goals for when I finally do have a LD so I dont get too over excited and think of a million things I could do. Another fear I have is that if I do a RC in my dream, itll fail but I'll accept that its working because of dream logic

Thanks Enjyu! I tried to read up on all the different induction techniques so any question I asked would need experience instead of a link to another part of the site. I guess all of my questions are answered for now. The only thing I need now is more dreams for more opportunities. And holy crap. I never noticed how many smileys I actually used until the forum converted them all into images. I'll need to cut down D= *There's another*

Hi Brandon. I'm new here as well (and also a lurker by nature, as evidenced by my two posts in two months).

They're a funny thing, those reality checks. I put a mark on my hand a few days ago, that reminds me to do a reality check when I look at it. The first day I had it, I explained it to a few people who had asked. That first night, I dreamed I was at a table with several people, and a girl asked me about it. I explained to her in detail what it was, that it was there to remind me to question my reality and all.... and didn't think twice about it. I felt a bit silly when I woke up.

At least they're making their way into my dreams already *Joining the smiley party*
