      Success

I finally had my first lucid last night, you can read my dj for details. Basically I couldn't stay in as long as I wanted, even though I stabilized. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help.

I don't trust anyone with a name like that. How do we know that we won't get rick rolled as soon as we click to view your dream journal entry huh?

All kidding aside though congratulations, this is just the start of a crazy ride.
I'll go check the entry now but I'm 90% sure that your length issue was either due to over excitement or you became lucid near the end of a sleep cycle

Congratulations trollmaster! On the lucid and on fighting the Sasquatch hehe.

Like rationalmystic said, and I agree with both, that you got excited from the lucidity, and because you became lucid at the end of the REM cycle. But you did the right thing by rubbing your hands together and crawling. I find what helps lock in the lucidity even more is something visual, like actually looking at my hands as I'm rubbing them together. And I try not to do it too fast: I really take the time to look at each finger, turning my hand back and forth, taking notice of details. It calms me down too so I don't wake up too soon.

Anyway, congratulations again and I can't wait to hear about your next lucid adventure!

I have to admit I've actually never heard of the crawl stabaliser. How does it work?

You crawl on the floor and it keeps you from waking up because your real life body is lying down. Thanks for the help opheliablue, and the welcome. It was about 10 minutes before my clock went off so I guess I was at the end of my sleep cycle.
