the dreams that lead me to another day

      Hi everyone!
I'm new and just wanted to say hi.
I've always been very interested in dreams and their meaning I and find it so interesting to read about your experiences and the possibilities.
I'm afraid the reason for being here though are my nightmares and the trauma. I've got horrible horrible nightmares every night and it does become clear what they're trying to say... I need to work with them in order to come to terms with it and hopefully eventually change them... I hope to find help with this here.

While these nightmares are torturing me, I admit they also fascinate me. It is absolutely incredible what the mind can do... anyway, more on this in a more appropriate forum...

      for now, just 'hi'

Hi and welcome! The reason I learned how to lucid dream as a kid was because of nightmares. I used my lucidity to get out of the dream and wake myself up. I suggest you visualize yourself being in a nightmare or use the things you experience as dream signs. That way you can realise you're dreaming and change the dream.

Yeah nightmares are a good way to become lucid, then you can kick their ass, this is more of a DILD technique so why not check out the DVA.
Hope to see you around (:

      Thanks for the warm welcome!
I have managed to become aware that it's 'just' a nightmare in the past. I could only make myself wake up though. Kicking their ass sounds great. I guess what I really want as well is staying asleep to find out what happened and/or to change the scenario. So far, I've been a coward trying go get away from it all. It's really scary and horrible...
My therapist suggested to find or create something in my dreams that gives me the strength to cope such as a friend or a weapon and to run or defend myself. It's quite a challenge.

Thanks for your recommendations. I'll check it out.
