      noob with a few questions..

Hey, I'm new here I've been trying to attain lucidity for a few weeks now, (at least really seriously) and I think I might be making progress, but I'm not sure. Here's what I've noticed:

      1. I've had many dreams about having a lucid dream, but never actually have real lucid dreams Ex. Last night, I was talking to an out of state friend (should have made me realize smething) and I asked him how he has lucid dreams and stuff.

      2. I was trying to have a WILD last night, and everything was , but after I started seeing some things, I saw skulls and stuff, my heart started pounding, and I couldn't continue. Is this normal?

Am I close? Anyway, thanks for looking.

Hey there and welcome to the forum!

I think if you are having dreams about talking about lucidity you should try to do more reality checks. That way maybe the next time you are talking about lucidity in your dream you will try a reality check and it will fail and cause you to go lucid. That can be one of your dream signs...talking about becoming/how to get lucid. Some good reality checks are to try to put your finger through your palm, close your nose with your hand and try to breathe in, try to float or fly, or just stop and think...how did I get here?

With your WILD attempt that is completely normal. The more practice you have with it the more used to all the strange sensations you will become and you will be less likely to become anxious or nervous...hence the heart racing. That's happened to me on many occassions. A WILD can be a pretty difficult thing to get right and will take some practice but it sounds like you already got pretty far if you were able to make it into the HI stage. That's great! You should be WILDing before you know it.

Let me know if you have any more questions! Oh and seeing all that weird stuff is totally normal during HI...just know that hypnogogia can show you really crazy things and you will also hear weird things too. So as long as you realize that you should be ok..and just be ready for anything and try to remain calm.

WILD stands for Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming.
It's basically a technique that is used to go from consciousness, directly to a lucid state. I've been trying it for months, many times i've come close, but no joy as yet!
Although last night, i was lying there, and i could have sworn i was wide awake, but i must have been half asleep, i kept hearing this 'popping' noise...it was very odd...of course, then i woke up and thought about posting it on DV, which woke me up totally, and i didn't hear it again!
Welcome to the board, and good luck!

ok, last night was my first lucid dream! I don't think it was a very high level one, but I knew I was dreaming. I was using WILD as well as the "talking to your subconcious" thing XD.

The first attempt went fine, and I think I was just about to have a LD but I got too excited and lost it. About thirty minutes later, I tried again using WILD and after what seemed like a few minutes, I kinda blacked out, then was sitting in my room. I tried the nose plugging RC immediatly and I knew I was dreaming.

It wasn't too vivid, so I tried the rubbing palms thing. It worked, the room got brighter and more realistic. I tried moving a few things with my mind, but nothing was working, so I kinda gave up. The weird thing was I could almost feel my real eyes moving rapidly, like I was about t lose control. Tonight I'm going to try again, wish me luck! (I need to start a DJ soon..)
