      Hello. :|

I am 16 and will only be here for a short time. I get anxious/nervous easily and when I read about false awakenings, I got so anxious that I'm shaking and I'm scared that I might get a false awakening. :S

Also, I've never lucid dreamed and this has made me concerned about doing it.

Hey hachiman, why do you get so anxious about false awakenings? How did you learn about lucid dreams/false awakenings? Are you still interested in trying to have a lucid dream, despite your concerns?

Well I read about this sleeping mask called "remee" that makes lucid dreams more easier. I just searched it and found false awakenings on Wikipedia. I don't want to do lucid dreaming, I'm ok about not controlling things in the dreams. Pls comfort me, I am male but I get scared easily. T_T

I personally think there is nothing scary about false awakening, at least nothing happened to me, just another typical day up and awake from the bed doing the usual stuffs except that it's in your dream.

      And welcome to dream views.

It also made me be sick and right now I'm alone.

Carrot, thank you. But how can you TELL you're in a false awakening? Even thought I haven't watched Inception, what if it will be like Limbo? From HP Deathly Hallows part 2/Inception.

I need comforting, I want to be in the real world until I die. I'm shaking quite badly.

      What's Limbo?

From Wikipedia (not a good source but still it's accurate):
"A false awakening is a vivid and convincing dream about awakening from sleep, while the dreamer in reality continues to sleep. After a false awakening, subjects often dream they are performing daily morning rituals such as cooking, cleaning and eating. The experience is sometimes called a double dream, or a dream within a dream."

I didn't know I was in a false awakening till I woke up in real life and tried to recall my dream. It's really nothing special. It's just waking up from your bed and usually doing mundane stuffs. Probably a little weird every now and then. I woke up and went to the toilet in a false awakening before.

      In real life?

Just like how you usually wake up from a dream. The dream ends and you wake up.

Dear hachiman, Inception is a work of fiction. There is no risk of falling into limbo from lucid dreams. You cannot die from something happening in a lucid dream, and you will not be trapped in your dreamworld. In fact, many people find that if they're lucid dreaming, closing their eyes and reopening them will cause them to wake up! That's how some people escape nightmares.

I've had a false awakening once, and as Carrot said, it's just like being in real life. My phone wasn't working properly, but I didn't think about that very much, I just laid back down in bed. If you want to catch a false awakening, you should get into the habit of doing reality checks every time you wake up, and several times throughout the day. Even if you don't catch it, you'll wake up in a few minutes.

False awakenings are nothing to be scared of. In fact, not everyone that has lucid dreams will encounter false awakenings.
