      Hey...Had my first LD

So hi, I just registered to ask a question because I had my first lucid dream in the morning.

Basically, I read a lot about lucid and tried many things to achieve one and this morning at 8:30 am had my first one.

The question is.... the transition to get in a lucid dream must it necesarely pass from a sleep paralysis ? What I mean is everyone has sleep paralysis, but to get in a LD must you be conscious about having one ? Because I never had any in my life and I'm sure about having one and this time I was conscious about it ! Was the consciousnous of this event in my head or was it in real life ? Does everyone pass through this to get in a lucid dream ? For me it seemed more like a dream about having one... Thanks !

sorry if it wasn't clear, maybe it's the excitement !

Basically, what I'm asking is when you get in a lucid dream, will you nececarelly experience a conscious paralysis before or you will be in a lucid dream automatically ? Is it more clear ? Because I wasn't expecting having one today and it just came alone.... and I felt like I dreamed a paralysis but there wasn't any monster or what so ever.

No, it's not necessary to get through the sleep paralysis consciously to have a lucid dream. Some people prefer to do so - such methods are called WILD (Wake Induced Lucid Dreams) - but there's a lot of ways to fall asleep without experiencing it and still have a lucid dream - in general they're called DILD (Dream Induced Lucid Dreams).

eworm just explained it. You don't necessary have to get through sleep paralysis to experience LD, there are different varying methods to get LD and I think WILD is the only one that consists sleep paralysis. Since it's wake induced, I would think you're truly conscious throughout the whole transition from awake to sleep paralysis to finally getting a LD.

If WILD is a method for you to get LD, don't be afraid of sleep paralysis and try to attempt it again. Here's one tutorial I've seen about WILD: http://www.dreamviews.com/f79/jakobs...hnique-118963/

Lastly, congrats and welcome to dream views!

My 3 LD's were DILD's (Dream Induced Lucid Dreams) The only weird feeling I had in the 3rd was not being able to open my eyes after dream spinning.

OK... But the weird thing about it is I wasn't expecting one.... It just happened.. I woke up at 8 and slept again and tada... I had a LD

But the weird part about it is I'm not sure if I had or not a sleep paralysis ? WHen you have it, is it in your head or it's more physical ? BEcause to me it seemed more like in my head then in real life.Maybe I dreamed having sleep paralysis ? Even If I did nothing to obtain one ?

Sleep Paralysis is in your body, it is a defense mechanism to prevent sleepwalking and acting out your dreams.
