      One silly question

Hey there, I'm pretty new to this stuff, I started, half a day ago, to read a book by Steven Laberge on lucid dream and have read most of the info on this very sight. Looking forwards very much so to my first lucid dream.

My question, probably a very stupid one, is that isn't one already in a lucid dream the moment he starts doing reality checks, thinking consciously, for the reason that he has control of his thoughts during that dream?

Sorry for the trouble, thanks, Benjy.

      Hi and Welcome to Dreamviews!

Steven LaBerges book is really good, you made a good choice reading it. And there are no stupid questions

The only qualifier for a dream to be lucid is the realization by dreamer, that he is dreaming. It usually comes with this big "WOW" moment of great surprise and joy (at least first few times in DILDs, after that the "wow" moment gets less impressive, as you get used to it.)

You can have some control, do RCs and make decisions in regular dreams. This actually happens quite a bit for some people after you start practicing for lucid dreaming. But if you don't realize you are dreaming, it's not a lucid dream. Hope this helps. Happy dreams
