It's different for everyone. I bet the more you're afraid of it, the move intense it'll be. I've never heard actual voices. Once, I heard loud buzzing, and on the other time (the one successful WILD), I heard a smoothly loudening momdem-handshake-type-thing until I entered the dream. Just don't worry too much about it.
