      Wink Nomadic dreamer saying hello!

Hi all - I am brand new to the forums and to the concept of lucid dreaming in general. A friend of mine taught a workshop a while back on conscious dreaming, and i just got around to watching the video two nights ago and have been incredibly inspired. I think I've had dreams with some level of lucidity for a long time although it always feels almost like i'm watching myself in the dream? I'm not entirely clear where that puts me on the lucidity spectrum. I've just started playing with keeping a dream journal... last night I woke up after dreams 4 times although twice I was too lazy to actually turn on the light and write the dreams down... I have also been working with waking myself up at a specific time for months, not realizing that there was any relation.

Anyway, I'm completely fascinated and hope to learn a lot more about lucid dreaming along with all of you. Looking forward to connecting here in the forums! I'm going through some of the suggested intro stuff on the forum, and I've purchased some books about dreaming, but I'm always happy for additional reading suggestions.

      best,
      sarah

      Welcome to the forums, sarahemily!

From your introduction it sounds like you may often dream in 3rd person. A lot of people have this happen to them, myself included, and if it happens all the time and you want to experience dreams in 1st person then lucidity is a great way to do it. However you can lucid dream however you want, so don't let this dictate your actions. As for where it puts you on the lucidity spectrum it doesn't really put you anywhere xD. Lucid dreaming is only becoming aware while dreaming, not anything that happens in the dream (besides that realization, of course).

It's great that you already started a DJ. I advise you to still write down any dreams you remember, even if you don't want to. This will help improve your dream recall as well as help you figure out dream signs, recurring themes/objects/people that you can use to get lucid. If you really don't want to write down the entire dream you can just write down key points and then expand upon them later but in order to get the full effect of keeping a DJ you should write down everything. As for reading suggestions the only book that I can really recommend is Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen Laberge if you haven't already. It pretty much sets the ground rules for modern lucid dreaming. In addition to the books I can really only suggest the vast amounts of information on the site which it sounds like you are already doing.

Hope this helps and if you have any questions feel free to post here, make a thread in the appropriate forum or message me, a dream guide (their names appear in green with starts beneath their username), or any other experienced members.

      Talking thanks, burke!

Thanks for the reply, Burke. I haven't read that one although I recall having come across the name a few times. I'm looking forward to getting involved in the forums here and learning more.
