      What's Wrong???

Hi, First off I would like to say great site. Lots of information. I found this site by first going to spiritonline.com which I used to usually visit when i had an obe or dream question to read up on that sort of stuff but i really needed someone to talk to so by sorting through millions of links i finally found this site.....on google... lol, anyways I used to have lucid dreams ALL the time! At least 3 times a week. I would have long dreams, remember them almost exactly, and attain perfect lucidity i guess you could call it. I could talk to people..(the one guy said he was like my spirit guide or something(only had 1 or two dreams with this guy but i remember they were pretty powerful)This was about 5 years ago and lasted for about 2 years... (btw im 16 now so i was still kinda young) During the last few times I remember going through lucid dreams all I ever wanted to do was have sex and then as the desire grew(i was like 13 going through puebrity what do you expect, lol) the dreams started to become less and less. I hit a dry spell and didn't have another lucid dream until my grandmother died and I had a lucid dream with her and my dead dog.. I forget what we talked about, I think it was just about what heaven and the afterlife was like but anyways....thats all i can remember about "why" I stopped dreaming. Oh another thing is I started smoking pot then, dunno if that has anything to do with it. I don't do that anymore.... anywho I remember how I learned to lucid dream. I had a nightmare one night where I was getting chased and my mom told me just to think to myself that its just a dream and I can control my own dreams. Of course next nightmare I had I remembered it and had lucid dreams very frequently for like 2 years after. My mom never had a lucid dream... she just thought it would make me feel better so I could go to bed. Now however, it is hard to dream... I go to sleep(usually takes me a few hrs of laying there) and wake up. Recently I've been really trying to have another lucid dream and have actually had a few dreams and last night I had a dream and at one time I realized it was a dream but didn't get to go lucid. I just basically want to fly around...Talk to people, goof off... find out why im dreaming what im dreaming, then maybe choose where i want to dream..

Ok, that was a lot of brainstorming and i probably missed my point. How can I get back to having lucid dreams (or dreams at all and remembering them) again as well as being able to go to sleep... when i think about having a lucid dream i get kind of excited and its hard for me to sleep. Are there any sleeping positions that are better?

Oh, another thing... This may be in the wrong section, but im kinda interested in that adoption thingy... i just glanced over it...(its 2 am here so im trying to get as much info as i can before i sleep)

      hey, welcome to the board!
If you could lucid dream before, and you want to start lucid dreaming again, you just have to really believe that you can do it, and it will happen eventually. go about your daily life as if there's the possibility that none of it could be real, you just might be dreaming. Perform reality checks.
And the most important thing i can say to you is Recall. Keep a dream Journal. Aim to recall at least one or two dreams a night. Keeping a journal also allows you to spot signs that you are dreaming, recurring themes that keep coming up, time after time. If you are dreaming, and you see a sign, it's your cue to ask yourself if it's a dream, and then perform a reality check.
By the way, reality checks are not there to make you have a dream, they are what you do when you think you are dreaming.
I think this is where i've gone wrong lately, i have this thing stuck in my head that if i do an RC, i'll have a lucid dream, when it doesn't work like that.
      Anymore questions, let me know!
As for getting excited, that really doesn't help. I think the best thing to do is just go to sleep relaxed, and if you see a sign to go lucid on, all well and good. But if you don't go lucid in a dream, don't worry about it too much, as that increases the difficulty.
As regards the adoption thing. You need to be here for two weeks before you can be adopted, this is to ensure that the people who do the adopting, are adopting someone who is serious about it, and is not going to leave within a few days.
The best thing to do in this time period is to read the board, read the posts. Look and see if another member's posts catch your eye, and then try to get to know them, by replying to their posts. Then, when you've been here two weeks, if you see a member you think would like to adopt you, then you could PM them and ask them if they'd like to do it.
Bear in mind, the member you choose may already have adopted two or three people, and may not want another user to guide just now.
If you want anymore information, PM a DreamGuide. They are the people in green.

i just tried the HILD technique last night.... i was able to get to sleep within 5 minutes after doing it and when I woke up I hadn't moved an inch, but I don't remember any dreams and don't know if they are lucid. Should I try this technique a few times more or try something else?

I think it's a good idea to try each technique several times before saying "oh that doesn't work for me, etc." because the first few times I tried to WILD I failed. Then other times it worked. It's good to be able to master a few different techniques just don't be too quick to cast any of them aside. It will take quite a bit of patience and practice.
