      Greetings

Hello, everyone. My name's Cody. I'm a sophomore in high school that, unfortunately, lives in Louisiana. I've been soul-searching for some months now. Two summers ago was when I really began my adventure; however, for some months I lost interest. Not up until about several months ago did I really began to pique my interest with soul-searching.

When summer first started two years back, I had just began to read up on "lucid dreaming." My first thoughts were something along the lines of, "Holy sh*t. I need to do this." But back then I was not introduced to spirituality nor esoteric ideas so I was just in pursuit of sex, flying, and other things that a 14-year-old desires. So, after buying Melatonin and B6 and taking them for a while and testing results to no avail; I somewhat gave up. I had even tried to do a dream journal in which I was attentive to, when I actually had dreams, but I never really do recall my dreams. I even did reality checks and tried varied sorts of techniques.

After that summer ended, I gave up entirely. Then at the end of my freshmen year I got right back into the whole thing. I became really speculative and soul-searchy. I'd do tremendous amounts of reading online about astral projection, reincarnation, near-death experiences, etc. Through this I lost my atheistic views and gained a peculiar sense of spirituality. I tried to be attentive to my meditation, but my only excuse is that I'm ADD. Now, I'm back here. I'm really ready to try lucid dreaming again.

Although my dream recall is still generally trash, I have hope. For a while I started having vivid dreams when I'd nap in class. That's pretty much gone now; I stopped sleeping a lot in class. So, I write down my dreams whenever I actually can recall them. I'm going to start taking my vitamin B6 again, though.

      I have some questions to strictly experienced lucid dreamers;
      • What other vitamins, supplements, diets, etc. can I look into in hopes to increase dream recall, acuity, and general chance to acheive lucidity?
      • What is the most effective lucid dreaming technique?
      • What are some personal tips that you, experienced, can give to, I, a novice?
      • Anything else you'd like to add in edge-wise.

I'm looking forward to my time spent here.

      Hey there!

Good to hear you're giving it another shot. Well I'm not a strictly experienced lucid dreamer, though I have had many experiences. I'm gonna try to put in my two cents anyway MUAHHAHA

-Not sure if you've seen this yet: Lucid Aids Make sure to check out the herb and drug repository. Generally, alcohol and drugs tend to suppress dream recall and lucidity, though for some people, it actually helps them. I guess it would really depend on the individual.

-I'm sure many will agree with me on this: the most effective lucid dreaming technique varies from person to person. Factors such as lifestyle, diet, and mindset would affect how a particular technique works out for someone. The DILD method in my opinion is more newbie-friendly but more random, whereas the WILD method might require more mental preparation, but at the same time has somewhat solid results since you don't lose awareness the whole time. The trick is to try out different things, and figure out which works best for you. And make sure to try them with WBTB if you can, as it boosts your chances.

-One tip I can give you is to read as much as you can. And remember that the guides that you read are just what they are -- guides. They are not set in stone, and are merely there to help you get on the right track. In the end, you have to find something that will work best for you. If something in a guide doesn't fit well with you, change it up. Hone your own personal technique. Another tip I can give you would be to work on awareness. Ultimately, it is awareness that lets you notice something is off, and that it's a dream -- even before reality checking. If you're interested in knowing more about it, you can check this out http://www.dreamviews.com/f49/all-da...gyoshi-113253/ Not only does it help you dream-wise, but it also has some astounding effects in your waking life.

Hmm oh, and try to write up a list of specific things (goals) you want to achieve once lucid. Read them a couple times throughout the day, especially before bed. It makes it so much easier to remember once you're dreaming, and can give you something to do once you get lucid -- instead of panicking about what to do and wasting precious lucid moments. It also boosts motivation. Yeah, I think that's all I have right now.

      Hope this helps

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

      Welcome!

I personally never take vitamins or supplements in order to get lucid, it's easy to become dependent on them and that is never good.

The best lucid aid though that I use is to increase the aminergic system in your brain that makes you use critical thinking, and obviously if you are critical in your dreams it is easier to become aware that it is a dream. When we dream the cholinergic system increase and the aminergic decrease, however when we wake up the aminergic increases. So that's why the WBTB technique is so powerful and the DEILD method. Because here you make the aminergic system go higher than the cholinergic. However there is a mystery how you can with DILD/ MILD increase the aminergic system with just will. Like the way I get lucid in the first REM in the night sometime. So you are in control of the systems just as you are in control of your arm, but perhaps it's not that clear though.

Personal tips would be that if you don't get the desired result you want, you should change something.
Look at what you are doing and ask yourself what is the positive side of this? Did you remember more dreams when you went to bed earlier for example?

And when you got a whole set of steps that you know will guarantee your lucidity, then look at the whole picture, what is it that all these steps have in common?

When you can answer that you have found the core of lucidity.

Look at steps then at wholes - Male and Female Energy.

I think I answered all of your questions, but if you have more just ask Sweet dreams.

      Inlakesh.

If you are looking for a good supplement, try Galantamine & choline. They are often sold together in one pill marketed for dreaming. If you need any specific advice, there are almost always a few galantamine threads going in the Lucid Aids forum: Lucid Aids Timing and dosage is critical, so be sure to do a little research first. It works best if you already have experience with WILD.

I think the single best thing you can do for your dreaming is Wake Back To Bed. I'm sure you are already journaling and working on your awareness. Schedule a few WBTB attempts per week, and you will be lucid in no time.
