      Hello! : Last night

      Hi,

This forum is exactly what I was looking for, some place for discussions on specifically LD.

I think last night may have been my first proper lucid dream (I say 'proper' because about a week ago, I thought I maybe dreaming went over to the lake to see my reflection and it was distorted, this is when I began to realise for sure it was a dream and with that I became frightened as the water was behaving oddly and I fell into normal sleep at that point).

Last night I very gradually relaxed into sleeping, my whole body just relaxing. I started imaging things but it wasn't a dream yet and I was still aware of being in bed. Then I started dreaming at some point, I was still conscious so it wasn't a surprising sort, my mind did seem to have 'slowed down' though, that was odd. Firstly a market place appeared I was just standing still and watching and I observed there wasn't any people and just as soon as that registered a load of people appeared walking in the opposite direction to me. Their faces were a bit strange, not quite human like, and a couple of them walked right through me as if they were ghosts...or I was one.

A girl at one stall showed me some items of clothing, I didn't buy anything. She told me her name, her friend also came over and said her name just as I was walking away.

This Lucid dream was in first person perspective -I never dream in first person perspective (as one sees IRL). Usually my dreams consistent of me being a form of observer from above, whilst I feel associated with one character in my dream.

Looking forward to spending time on this forum and learning more about maximising dream potential! :-)

First of all, welcome to Dream Views! Enjoy your stay here, there's a lot of information here, and I'm sure each guide you read will be positive supplements in formulating how you induce lucids more often.

Yeah, I get that feeling a lot in my dreams where I'm the spectator, but at the same time, I know I'm linked to one character in the dream, or even interchanging from first person to third person perspective.

I guess you could say third person dreams are somewhat based on NREM sleep, and you having a first person dream, you might've hit intense REM periods, where things are more vivid and detailed, and are mostly seen in first person. You can even conceptualize 360 vision while lucid, it's crazy!

Yeah, it's normal for things to be out of place in your dreams (reflection of the water distorting and all). There's guides on maintaining lucidity by being accustomed that literally, "anything goes" in a dream, and much more.

The more you record your dreams and become aware of them and how your mind works while in the dream state, the more you'll get used to these odd patterns, and they won't scare you as much.

      Again, I wish you luck!

      Welcome Opal

To discuss lucid dreaming is what have made me progress the most, I promise. It's not because of methods and techniques read from a fancy lucid dreaming book (well those might have been needed to understand the basics, if this forum didn't existed) I learn and progress because of Dreamviews! So you are definitely in the right place.

Interesting dream by the way By joining this forum you have just made sure that you will have many more.
I wish sweet dreams to you and enjoy your stay

I've not heard of NREM before. This is quite interesting, I wonder what makes the change, and if it's something physical, like you said intense REM period, then what causes that state?

I actually had another first person perspective dream last night -very strange to have two nights in a row, whilst I don't recall ever experiencing this previously.

I didn't lucid dream last night even though it was my intention to.

:-) Yes, I agree. I think you need to share ideas, those things that you won't always find in a book. It keeps you enthusiastic too, knowing there are others out there who have already achieved this to different levels and to learn from their experience.

      Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. There is no quick answer to your question, but the Dream guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

One thing you can do in a post is place a link to another thread. I have done this below. You can click on the colored words to see the new thread. Start with this extra basic one, it will help you read the acronyms in other posts, Help With Acronyms For Complete Beginners

After that one the very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using in much more depth, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
