Post Hi, i am Michael. New to Lucid dreaming and Dream views!

      Hello everybody!

So today i want to take a moment to introduce myself on this forum!

Yesterday (November 21, 2012) i started reading on this forum, first because google directed my to a topic over here i was searching about release adrenaline rushes on will.

I was actually going through some threads and saw people telling stuff about i can fly through the air etc etc. i was like; is this some sort of joke or is this real?!?!?!?!
I just thought it was really really weird... a forum about people who fantasize they can fly and actually think they CAN....

So i did some research and the answer on my question was: Lucid dreaming.
Wow, this subject really caught me. I immediately register on this forum and start to read myself in about Lucid dreaming and how to.

Kinda funny since yesterday morning i woke up after a really funny dream about me being in the army chasing some terrorist with my sniper rifle, and he ran into his wife and child.. and sat between them on some sort of cabletrack/cableway (i don't know if thats the right word) and he was on a really really far distance, so i took my chances and got my sniper rifle and was thinking: i can't kill the wife nor the kid. And BAM, shoot the terrorist in his head.

With this in my head i was getting more and more excited about Lucid dreaming.
So i told my girlfriend about Lucid dreaming and how to achieve it.
Always when i or my girlfriend remember a funny clear dream we always tell each other about it.. so i guess some sort of interest has always been there.

Back then i did not really had any interest of keeping the dreams.. while i always wrote it down immediately. So i guess this gives me an advantage since i always sort of kept a daily dream journal that disappeared at some point.

Well, lets get back to Lucid dreaming.

So yesterday evening i was reading about how to achieve Lucid dreaming and the difficulties.
First thing i noticed that some people get a Lucid dream after sleeping for several hours, then wake up for a moment.. and go to sleep again.
Kinda funny since yesterday morning my dad woke up at 5 because of my dad was making noise (normally i go to bed at 11 and wake up at 7), and i was awake for about 30 seconds, then fell asleep and got the dream i told you about above.

So i was like.. WTF some of this is actually real and i got so close to it!

I decided to just go to bed at 11 and get up at 7 like i always do, but this time i set a vibrating alarm at 5 (Because of my dad who woke me up at that time before, and had a dream after).

      11.00: Went to bed.

3.00: woke up by myself en before realizing i thought: FAWK, i could have tried FILD... but it was too late ! So i thought, in 2 hours i maybe have another chance.

5.00: Brrrrrrr...Brrrrrrr... Got awake because of my vibrating phone, and i was like.. wheres my dad?! isn't he awake yet?? After that i heard he was already downstairs and got upstairs to brush his teeth. So i was thinking about dreaming and lucid dreaming and dreaming and lucid dreaming.. till i was like: i can't fall asleep like this?!
For one moment i was like: Fk this. im going to sleep..! And felt asleep......

7.00: Woke up and first thing i thought: FAAAWKK, i didn't dreaaaaam and after i closed my eyes and diggggg really deep into my memory i remember myself about 1 very clear non lucid dream.. and recall it again. so i immediately took my phone to write down for my girlfriend.. and while writing, some thoughts came up about shooting.. my sequence about dream 1 got blurry.... like the sequence was wrong or something.. again diggged really deep... dream 2 also got back!!! And after finishing Dream 1 in the right sequence i wrote down dream 2. Both detailed and very long.
At some point it was like, dream 2 continued where dream 1 stopped. But i remember both as 2 separate dreams.. Very cool.

So today i will be creating a DJ, digital and physical..
Digital because its very easy to use, and physical because maybe in 10 years after writing down all my dreams, i can show it to family or my kids (when i get kids).

This was my introduction, thanks for reading.. and hope to meet u again on this forum or in my dreams!

      - Michael073

      Welcome Michael073!

Great introduction! Very entertaining to read and it really makes the reader know you.

I have been practising for a few years now and done everything in my power to find the best method to induce lucid dreams. And what I have discovered is that the best way is to learn it on your own.
Just like you can't master an instrument by reading, but by actively practising and thinking about what you need to improve, lucid dreaming works in the same way.

My experience gives me my truth, and you experiences give you your truth. So everything I say can only be seen as inspiration not factual information.

With that said I just want to say that in the beggining people want to start doing active things like trying EVERY method there is out there to find the best way to induce lucid dreams, but after some time of doing that everyone will realize that they have been wasting their time and they have relayed on the methods rather than themself. I am not saying this is wrong I am just saying that lucid dreaming will be hard if you have the belief that methods will work if you just follow the instructions. So the best way to learn is to learn by doing, but the paradox is that in order to do that you have to make your own misstakes and learn by them. This is just something to remember for later.

My pont of this is that in my opinion the best approach is to look at lucid dreaming with a scientist's eye's and not judge the results one get, only observe it, to avoid frustration.

And as a little motivation for you, by just knowing what a lucid dream you will passively set the intent for you that will make you have your first lucid dream.

So keep recalling and the rest will take care of itself.

      In summary:

The best way to approach lucid dreaming (or anything in life) is to let go of ego, but in order to understand why, one has to first live in the ego.

Sorry if I went too much off-topic your post just made me think, and I like to think alot

I wish sweet dreams to you and that you enjoy your stay.

And of course, if you have any questions I will be happy to answer them.

Welcome to the forum Michael, it's the best forum I've been to. everyone on here is wonderful!

Lucid dreaming is amazing, I remember when i first found out about it months ago and i was so excited to try it. Once you have a vivid lucid dream, you won't look at dreaming the same again. That's how it was for me, I don't discard dreams like i used to, i think they are so interesting now and how we know so little about them.

I've never had a wake induced lucid dream/out of body experience like you said, waking up after a couple of hours of sleep and then going into a lucid dream.. I read what you said about it but I dont think you understand what it is.. A WILD is not quite falling asleep then just having a dream. it's more like.. you are awake while you fall asleep and you are there witnessing the dream form around you, once it has formed, you can get up and walk around in your dream or fly off to mars and fuck shit up

Well i nearly had one.. I got to hallucination stage just before my dream formed.. but I pulled out because its pretty freaky first time. definitely an amazing experience.

Oh and a few more things, search for "reality checks". They are the easiest way to start having lucid dreams in my own opinion. If you don't have one within a week, don't worry, you will have one, it just takes a motivation and dedication and you'll realize how amazing lucid dreaming is

When you are in a dream and you're on auto pilot mode, something strange will happen and you will do a reality check because you are used to doing them in real, once you have done it, you will know it's a dream.

My first lucid dream, I was in someone's house about to get to bed but there was a cat in the way so I tried laying down next to it, it turned around and called me a "cunt punt", then alarm bells starting ringing so I done a reality check (plug my nose with my fingers and try and breath) and to my shock I was dreaming. It's crazy though, my first lucid dream was extremely vivid. I just couldn't believe that I was in a dream, it looked just how waking life looks

      When it happens, you'll know

Hello Michael and welcome to DreamViews!

I am new to lucid dreaming myself and my own introduction to this phenomenon was very much like yours, and just like you i didn't believe it at first.
But as you can see on my LD count, i was proven wrong! xD

It is VERY real and amazing!

Browse some of the forum's content and learn the basics and as hinted above me, use the techniques available, but don't put your faith in the techniques! Put them in your own ability!

And as benzilla just wrote, you will know when it happens and it's the most amazing feeling.

Hehe Thank you Buhl and Artist!! Yea im so curious about my first Lucid! I am not going to try to force it or put faith in the techniques, of course i am going to think about it and what i would do.. and keep convincing myself i can. I am so freaking curious!!!

Can i ask u guys, how many times a day u were doing Reality checks? And when? etc.. this part keeps being a bit blurry to me.. do i just need to think like; *looking around...* is this real life or a dream?? *plug my fingers into my nose and try to breath..* *Cant breath = real life*

      ?? Tell me please

Don't get me or Buhl wrong you are allowed to put faith in a method. Just put the faith primarily in yourself.

So if you see a method and see that it got lots of likes and people saying that it "worked" for them etc. Don't expect the method to be gold and guaranteed to work for you because of that. Just perform the method and observe the result, never judge yourself.

Frustration leads to stress, stress leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering... (Suffering of not having peaceful dreams .. )

That will lead to frustration and blame in yourself if the method is unsuccessful one night.

And for me reality check and awareness it not so much about something that you do several times a day (well if you observe yourself it will look like this), but it's rather a matter of being lucid as often you can during the day. So well reality check whenever you feel like it, but preferably I would recommend to do it well each time something strange happens (so you got that intent programmed), eached time you feel strange emotions like super angry, super happy, super nervous etc (because dreams are exaggerated all the time!), when you get a deja vu feeling if that ever happens, you name it!

      Have fun.

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. There is no quick answer to your question, but the Dream guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

One thing you can do in a post is place a link to another thread. I have done this below. You can click on the colored words to see the new thread. Start with this extra basic one, it will help you read the acronyms in other posts, Help With Acronyms For Complete Beginners

After that one the very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using in much more depth, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

      Hey sivason!

Thanks for the reply. Wow 2k+ LD's that's such a achievement. Wow respect!
Please explain me, what's really the 'key' to lucid dreaming? Awareness?

      Thanks!

Hello Michael, I m still new to this, less than 1month here and around 2 months of trying LD, which has lead to success with my first 2 lucid dreams last week!

I also feel that awareness is the key, at least this is what i m feeling now, awareness is the spark that will make you lucid...at least in my first 2 LDs, once I was aware and I asked me the 10 000 $ question "Could this be a dream" everything else was super easy, a reality check to confirm and I was there!

MasterMind is very right, believe in yourself first....and when you will get the first LD you will feel so confident that you will say "Yes I am able to do it!"

From there the sky is the limit (actually no, you can reach higher than the sky lol) I just experienced 2 LD and already flew for like 10 minutes and there is no word to describe it!

Good luck with LD it will come soon enough!

Hey! Welcome to dreamviews. I am always excited about someone finding out about LDing. I would recommended Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen Laberge. He is "the doctor" associated with LDing. His book explains everything. It isn't very expensive and has all sorts of awesome info as well.

Did you find anything about the adrenaline? I often use adrenaline when I am working and found a way to get it to come naturally. Did you find out if it is harmful to do often?

Hi Michael, Thanks for the respect, but it is not really that amazing. I started LDing in 1987, so it is really just an average of 2 a week, for over 2.5 decades. It sounds like alot, but everyone here will have hundreds, maybe thousands in their life, if they just stick to it.

Well, yes, awareness, but not just saying awareness. I think you need to actively harness your awareness through practice. So many people just wander through life, and are barely aware. When you realize that you have not really paid that much attention in life, you need to find a way to learn awareness.

The first thing most LDers do thatt is practice, is the Reality Check. You need to do it right. Simply doing dumb things like trying to push your figer through your hand is not effective. You need to take that moment and really be fully aware. bring all of your focus and intent into truely experiencing the moment, then try your RC. A good RC completely draws your attention and awareness into how you feel in every way. Get good at truely being aware during your RCs and it becomes much easier to tell when something is not correct (because you are dreaming).

For more advanced exercise in awareness, you can play those games they call 'brain games.' You know, like memory games or find the hidden image games. Slightly more advanced is actually learning to meditate or perform in a sport or with insturment on a high level. You can also read about awareness in the Dream Yoga class now offered in the DVA section.

      Good luck and happy dreams.
