      First lucid dream + questions

Well first I'll introduce myself. My name is Vince and I'm 18. I just came across lucid dreaming a few days ago and on my second night of practicing I had my first lucid dream. Unfortunatly it wasnt much. In short, I saw a guy fall off a motorcycle, but I looked back and he was riding it again and thought, "That couldn't be." So, I decided to conduct a reality check and looked at a digital clock. Both times it said the same, 3:10, but I just knew I was dreaming. Before I had time to do anything, even get excited, I awoke. I have to say it was an amazing feeling realizing that your dreaming.

My questions come through a few experiences with WILD. I was starting to take a nap and figured I might as well try. I began to relax and after a bit I got this feeling that I was metling into my bed. Is this a feeling that some of you get? Also, a little while after this, everything seemed to brighten up. I thought it was just the sun coming out from behind the clouds and it probably was, but then I noticed my eyes starting to twitch and soon after that it seemed like they were in a REM type stage. Then, last night I woke up about 3 AM, but I didnt want to stay up for any amount of time near 90 minutes, so I went back to sleep. I had a little trouble falling asleep and sort of drifted into a dream. I drifted out about 10 minutes later because I heard my dad moving around and I noticed something weird. My body was vibrating a litle bit. It wasn't a violent vibrating as I expected, but it was actually quite subtle and relaxing. The feeling went away in a minute or so and then I opened my eyes. I've never experienced anything like the twitching eyes or vibrating so I am just asking if you guys think it may have been all in my head, because I really don't know.

      Thanks in advanced.

Hey Vince, Welcome to the forum.

Its good you've just recently come into contact with Lucidity, when you first discover the fact you can wake up in your dreams your imagination goes into overdrive and gives you more vivid and colorful dreams

I like the way you describe that feeling of 'melting' into your bed, that usually happens when you perform a WILD and your body is slowly falling into restful asleep, nothing to worry about....

Sleep paralysis unusually kicks in during this stage. That slow feeling of vibration is an interesting state, I still haven’t fully mastered the ability to become lucid through the use of WILD, but know what you are saying about the feeling of pulsation throughout your body.

      Good Luck
"I was looking back to see if you were looking back at me to see me looking back at you".

      Hey Vince...welcome to Dream Views

It's great that you were able to stop yourself in your dream and think "hey that can't be I must be dreaming" it takes alot of skill to get to that point if you aren't a natural lucid dreamer. Also, I don't rely on digital clocks or anything like that for a reality check when I get lucid. In fact, I usually never do reality checks because by the time I think to do one I already am lucid. Though it is still suggested to do one even if you know you are dreaming to keep your mind from slipping back to a nonlucid dream. I prefer the old finger through palm method...it's simple...your hands are always there so you don't have to look around for a clock or anything...and it's worked for me everytime. It goes through like putty

As far as the WILD is concerned I have quite a bit of experience in WILDing and have gone through all the stages...sleep paralysis, vibrations, hypnogogia, lucid dreaming, etc. over and over again many times so feel free to ask me if you have any questions about that.

      Another update incase anyones interested

I tried taking a nap and WILDing again. Anyways I was sort of falling asleep or losing conciousness and all of a sudden I felt this jolt and it woke me back up. It also felt like my eyes were moving back and forth again, but I could control it a little. If I kept them really relaxed they stopped shaking, but it was pretty hard to do that all the time. Even after I opened my eyes they would continue shaking when I closed them. The jolt was the weirdest thing. It felt like someone jumped on the other half of my bed. Was this part of WILDing? It doesnt seem like it would be possible to continue sleeping through this. Atleast it feels like a step in the right direction though.
And even in our dreams we're so afraid of the way we'll offset who we are...

I've had the eye shaking before...it's strange but it only happened a few times. It's all a part of WILDing...the jolt you are experiencing would be a result of your body entering sleep paralysis...somewhat similar to a jolt that you experience when trying to go to sleep at night and then all of a sudden see some stange HI that something hit you, or that you are falling and it jolts you awake. It could be sleep paralysis...it could be a result of the HI.

The part where you sometimes can feel a jolt, yet you are shaking & cannot move. That is one of the later steps of WILD.

i just got up from trying a presleep wild. i felt like i was drifting in and out of consciousness multiple times. (i had the LDmp3s on). after about an hour or so of this i also felt a suddon jolt go through my whole body. first time i actually felt this jolt u speak of. it was rather shocking and woke me up aswell. i get the same vibrations u get. they are very subtle and relaxing, not the violent ones we read about. good luck on your LD quest bro

Sometimes the vibrations are very subtle and can be relaxing, but sometimes they are alot stronger and it feels like your whole bed is like on super vibrate or something ...and I tend to get stuck in the vibrational state and it can get quite annoying.

Yeah I had the soothing vibrations this morning when I woke up from my dream. What exactly are you supposed to do when you feel them?

Just relax. Don't think about sleep, but think about how it feels.

really. well i did WBTB WILD this morning and i hear seinfeld on the TV and it was off. then i tried again and felt the most intense vibrations ive had yet! it was so awesome!
i could feel myself making me go with them. and in a few seconds it felt REALLY strong then i heard like a very loud swooshing sound then like i was fully transitioning but then i felt that DAMNED jolt really strong. i retried like 3 times in a row really fast to get past it but it was waaay to strong of a jolt........ sadly i didnt try harder cuz i was trying to recall my dreams i just had and forgot to retry getting past the jolt
