      Hail fellow travellers

      Hi,
I'm a long-time vivid dreamer. I'm gearing up for a new foray into dreaming worlds, looking to increase my incidence of lucidity. I find my life lacks a certain level of charm when I do not work on dreaming awareness.

My mode of entering the dreamworld is through meditation, reality checks, journaling. I find that visualising dream scenes before sleep does not necessarily bring that scene to dream, but does increase my clarity and recall.
One of my goals is to be able to perform meditation techniques in dreams, they say the effect is 10 times stronger.

It's wonderful to find so many people excitedly devoted to dreams, looking forward to learning much more.

      Welcome to DV!

I've meditated in a dream once, it was very calming but I woke myself up after ten seconds or so. I didn't have anything to ground me in the dream so it destabilized.

Do you have any questions? If you do, don't hesitate to ask either in here or send me a PM

Welcome Elaphon! Good to have you join us!

I was lucky enough to once meditate in a non-lucid dream. For some reason, I was a young student in a Soviet-era Russian schoolhouse, and I meditated to get some peace and quiet from the other children. The effect was amazingly calming. The mind seems to quiet down more readily in a dream for some reason.

Have you ever attempted to incubate a scene where you meditate? With enough determined effort, perhaps you could wind up making this happen in a non-lucid. That sets aside any concerns about stability. My own experience with non-lucid meditation came at a time when I was thinking about meditation a lot and probably had it on my mind as I was heading to sleep (although I'm less certain about that part.)

last night I programmed for mediation in a celestial garden, visualising the experience. I dreamed of a chocolatey-golden-copper atmosphere, hills in the background, and a giant metallic dark mass in it. All colours were pearly, and the atmosphere very calm.

I didn't become lucid, and was not aware of my body, just the beauty of the atmosphere.

I guess I could use "heavy as earth" as a grounding concept in my programming, as the few times I've been lucid in dreams, I quickly lose the experience and wake up.

CanisLucidus, do you ever program for a non-lucid dream to prepare for a lucid experience?

Good question, Elaphon. I have often attempted to program (or "incubate") dreams, typically with varying degrees of success. What I'm generally going for is to incubate a dream that is a) easily recognizable to me as being a dream and b) brings me close to a lucid goal.

For example, some time ago, I had a lucid goal that I planned to perform in my kitchen. (Probably an old Task of the Month.) I imagined myself walking through my kitchen, the room festooned with banners that read "YOU ARE DREAMING!!!" I didn't wind up in my kitchen, but the banners did show up in a different dream. So I tend to just be able to incubate elements more consistently than I am entire dreams.

It sounds like you are a really top-notch dream incubator! If I'm reading this right, it sounds like you wound up in the very celestial garden you had imagined. (Really nice dream, BTW.) I know you mentioned that you don't always get the scene that you incubate, but this sounds really close. Maybe throw in a few of my ridiculous banners or some other trick that will unsubtly remind you that it's all a dream.

      Good luck!

@Matte87 - LOL! Thanks for the fix!

Like the banners idea. Will go for more blatant dreamsigns - maybe a marching band or cheerleaders.

Ha! I love it! Yes, that's perfect. You can have yourself a whole Lucidity Parade going on.

If you're anything like me, it helps to have dream signs be as unsubtle as possible. The more blatant the better, because I am capable of ignoring almost anything.

      Good luck!
