      New... Yet Experienced

      Greetings everyone.

All of my life, I have been working on controlling myself in my dreams. This fascination started due to many nightmares that I would have on a constant basis. Never had I done any research on this phenomenon until now... I never knew that it was called Lucid Dreaming.

A few months ago, I was finally able to experience flight. It was the most amazing thing I have ever felt in my entire life. I am not sure the scientific explanation for the feelings I experienced, but it was truly amazing.

I have briefly read through some of the tutorials and learned some new techniques that I did not find out through my own experiences. If I can come up with some new experiences or techniques, I will be sure to share them.

My main question is... after experiencing flight, is there anything else that can give such an amazing feeling? Is it possible to unlock emotions or knowledge that we have lost? I read briefly about "learning about yourself", but does anyone have any experience with such things?

Share your LD experiences with me...

      Welcome on board!

Yeah flight is pretty amazing and I do it often. Some other things that are pretty cool as well are breakthing underwater and walking through walls.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

      Welcome ^_^.
I have only flown in my dreams a few times a long time ago when I was very young, but I still remember the feeling. It was amazing. As Seeker said, breathing underwater is also really fun. With me, that's just about the only thing that can match up to flight and luckily, happens quite often because all I have to do is try to drown myself.

      Welcome to the forum, Cyphid.

Actually, the list of truely breathtaking experiences that you can experience while lucid dreamin is infinite, subject only to your imagination. Think of something that would truely floor you with amazement, and it is possible to experience it while dreaming. Flying is probably just the tip of the iceberg, depending on how creative you get with things you'd like to experience.
As far as learning more about yourself, it is very possible, and sometimes happens without your own conscious will. Everything you have learned, everything you have experience, and indeed everything that has entered your mind through any means has been stored, to some degree, in your subconscious mind. Dreams are the playground of the subconscious, and things you have long since consciously forgotten, or possibily never even consciously Noticed, are subject to pop up anywhere in your dreams. Old fears, old joys, different aspects of your personality; these are all there for your experience while dreaming, and are clearly more accessible while Lucid dreaming. The conscious mind, and subconscious mind could be complete opposites of each other, as the conscious mind is a little more subject to outside influence: like trends, sociality, or simply things your conscious mind has constructed as Reality. None of these things apply with any sort of Absolution while dreaming, because your subconscious (the man behind the curtain) is hard at work constructing your dream sceen, which usually differs completely from your view of waking life. It is for this reason that it is possible to be constantly surprised by different aspects of your 'self' that you didn't even know exist within you while awake.
