      Hitting a wall with WILD

Hey everybody! I am very excited to finally join the site. I have read dozens of tutorials and countless forums about lucid dreaming on this site. I decided that WILD lucid dreaming was the method that interested me the most. I have, however, not had any success as far as dream entry goes. I have probably made at least 30-40 attempts at it and I have also kept a dream journal. I think I have made a bit of progress, and I have had trouble finding posts similar to mine in terms of the difficulty that I am having. When I initiate the WILD procedure (I've tried WBTB and before sleep), I do begin to notice things happening. Namely a vibration or a tingling. This engulfs my whole body. It reaches an intensity that is far greater than numbness tingling. I have also heard one a couple of occasions a loud buzzing noise. I have yet to experience any form of optical imagery. No lights, no spirals, nothing. This has been a bit frustrating, as I am always incredibly patient during my attempts. One on occasion I spent 2 hours trying to induce a lucid dream. I have no idea why this eludes me. What I am asking is, what do I do to get past this wall during WILD. How can I begin with HI? I really appreciate any responses. Thanks

      Welcome to DV, boonjammin!

I would suggest if you are hitting a wall with WILD to try DILD for a change. More people who are new to LDing are successful at DILD than at WILD.

Although I have once read the theory that part of the reason for that is because people who practice WILD only often have the misconception that one can do WILD without preparation. Are you doing reality checks and working on your awareness and using mantras or other tools like that? Just trying to fall asleep aware without any other preparation may not be enough.

Also are you aware that at the beginning of the night one is unlikely to enter dream state directly upon falling asleep, therefore it is usually advisable to WILD when one has gotten several hours of sleep already. In general it helps to be well rested and have very little stress in one's life for either DILD or WILD. For any LD expectations and intensions matter deeply.

As to why you are not getting any visual HH, my understanding is that HH differ from person to person and may differ for various attempts. You say you get vibrations and had a loud buzzing. I never get those. What I do get is images and sometimes short silent short videos and occasionally sound. I also never get any tectile HH, whereas I have read other people feeling like someone touches them for example. So there are variations in this experience.

      Welcome to Dreamviews.

Indeed there is a lots of WILD tutorials out there. If I may recommend though, read two more. Our short WILD for beginners, and very detailed and informative WILD (sageous).

After those, here is an article different HH and how you could use them to enter LD. http://www.dreamviews.com/wake-initi...ntry-wild.html

That all said, normally, DILD is recommended to start with. it will teach you the mental preparation you will also need for a WILD. It's up to you of course.

Happy dreams and don't hesitate to ask if you have anything yo need help with.
