      Hello everybody!

Hello, my name is Sam, I'm an Italian-born living in NYC.

I'm interested in lucid dreaming since a few months but I was never able to experience one. I'm working on my dream recalling skills (they were really poor before I started exercising.. about 2 dreams a month!!) and I'm able to recall one dream almost every night.

I hope to find some good guidance to improve my skills and finally be able to experience lucid dreaming.

      Sam

      Welcome to DV, Sam!

For lucid dream success it helps to improve dream recall as much as possible as you know already. In addition, are you doing reality checks? And have you read any of the lucid dreaming induction methods? We recommend starting with DILD or MILD for most beginners, although different methods work for different people.

Wishing you good luck. And please feel free to ask if you have any questions.
You may say I'm a dreamer.

Thank you for your nice answer! I read about reality checks but I always forget.. do you have any suggestion in order to remind myself to perform them regularly? Also I read about MILD (i'm reading the book by professor LaBerge), but I wasn't be able to experience a LD yet

Hello, Sam! Thee are many apps that remind you to check if you're dreaming... my advice is to start with it, so that it'll help you create the habit, and then slowly decrease the number of notifications, until you're doing reality checks on your own.

Don't get frustrated if you don't have a LD whenever you try it, it's not as easy as it may seem, especially in the beginning... IMO. But if you work hard enough, you'll get there! Oh, and welcome to DV!

I know it is pretty frustrating .. but I believe in myself and I'm sure I will be able to succeed!

Do you have any recommendations for an app? I have an iPhone!

      Thanks!

I am not sure which better apps there are, but I once got an iPhone app designed for Buddhist mindfulness called "Lotus Bud" and it sounds a bell to remind one to be mindful at random intervals, and that works for reality checks for LDing practice too. I have not used this app much, actually forgot that I have it, maybe I should use it again as well

      That's the right attitude!

I'm currently using RealityCheck on my iPhone, though I'm not sure yet if it's the best one out there. I had a different app when I had a Samsung, but I forgot its name. If I find anything better, I'll let you know!

This is what RealityCheck looks like, in case you go looking for it:

And you can choose how often you'll get notifications:

Sam, I've decided to start a thread about iPhone apps, if you're interested. Here.
