      Hello All!

      Good morning all!

Having recently stumbled upon the concept of LD, I thought I might do some further research and get a feel for the community revolving around it.
I have been trying for the past 3 days which has not yet yielded a LD, but rest assured knowing that it can take weeks.

For the record, below are the techniques I am trying to employ:

      - Dream journal (Only have been able to recall two short dreams in it so far).
      - Reality checks (scrutinizing my hands and phone) every time i see the letter L I drew on the back of my hand.
      - Meditation in the form of daily 15minute self awareness sessions, and listening to binaural beats before bed.
      - Continual reinforcement of the idea 'I will remember my dreams' before sleeping.
      - Sporadic but sparing use of Calea Z tea.
      - Discussing the idea of it with mates and sharing on this forum to help incubate the idea of LD.

I also had quite a profound experience with the Calea Z tea, as this yielded my only memorable dreams since committing to the pursuit of a LD.

I ended up dreaming of myself in a fire breathing battle with an owl over a floating island in outer-space. This was followed by a dream in which I self assembled out of blue and white lego pieces, there happened to be excess so I demanded it create a spare leg for me, which subsequently got consumed by a sea of grey lego pieces. I was rather amused when I woke up :) although i do not believe it was lucid.

The only time I can ever recall making a conscious decision in a dream would be when I was a lot younger. The occasional nightmare where I was running from a dinosaur or a river of lava would culminate in my decision to allow myself to just get eaten or fall into the lava as I knew that would end the dream - which it did. Prior to that, I would not have recognized it as a dream though so I would not consider that lucid either.

Regardless, I am fascinated with this phenomenon and hope to contribute to the discussion as I progress.

      Thankyou for reading!

That's awesome. While it may not have been a lucid dream (you need to be aware in that moment that you are, in fact, dreaming), you did appear to have some control. Quite often I, and others, will have dreams like this before embarking on fully lucid dreams. You may find yourself able to do magical, or super-heroic things in a dream, but accept it as reality. Crazy, I know, but quite often these dreams can be precursors to lucid dreams.

So yay, you're definitely on the right track! That, plus this: "Discussing the idea of it with mates and sharing on this forum to help incubate the idea of LD." will keep the subject of lucidity so strong in your brain that I don't see you having any trouble achieving lucidity. Also, welcome to DreamViews
