Hello DV!;
I don't know why I haven't found or signed up for this site before... but I didn't come across it until today while looking for a specific symbolism and thinking about how I need more support when it comes to dreamwork.
A brief introduction...
I'm 24yo and have been tracking my dreams for the past two years. I am naturally a Lucid Dreamer and have many instances where I obtain lucidity, as well as a range of other sensations and dream-states/types/etc.
I will have to read through DV's dictionary of terms to conform to the community's way of speaking, but for the last couple of years, I've been a lone ranger in figuring out my dreams - so I have some terminology that is specific to me... it'll be interesting to see what overlaps and what doesn't once I get through the readings here. I'm looking forward to starting a Dream Journal and hopefully finding support/allies (or mentor, a mentor would be nice >.>).
I'm deeply spiritual/occult and mostly, I've been sharing my dreamwork with an online spiritual community I've been part of until recently I left. Not many of them were very interested in discussing dreamwork though, much more interested in aliens .
For the past three weeks, I've been dealing with an increased frequency of dreams. It is not unusual for me to have a range of 5-7 (recalled) dreams in one night, but usually I get a few nights of deep rest in between... however, this has not been the case for the last month or so.
Every night has been a non-stop suffocation of overwhelming dreams, the most being around 12 dreams in one sleep cycle - which was really my fault for I had stayed up to avoid dreaming; I remained awake for over 48 hours, but as soon as I hit the bed and allowed myself to rest... the dreams were even more compacted as if they'd been waiting in a queue instead of being successfully avoided.
Still, though multiple dreams are not uncommon and the frequency is higher than usual, most of the dreams were not lucid. Some were vaguely so, but most weren't... until yesterday afternoon. I had been avoiding sleeping again, but ended up becoming too tired to keep to it - I fell into a 'perfect' half awake/half asleep brain state ... and when I realized I was looking at something, but my eyes were closed back in my bed, I continued to look until I pulled my Consciousness entirely into a different woman's body who'd been staring at a clock (and boy, was she ever drunk...).
This began a number of startling Lucid sequences. Occasionally, I returned to my "Bedroom" to consciously chose to make the most of my brain state and experience whatever I could access. I will write more about this later, perhaps, on my journal after reading more through the forum and community. Still, it's been many months since I had such a perfect Lucid state, so the power of the dreams are still lingering.
The most interesting of yesterday's Lucid sequences was one in a rainforest ravine, where I laid upon a grassy cliff and sunk into the soil, and the deeper I descended into the soil, the louder slithering became apparent, then hissing until large (boa constrictors, pythons, etc.) snakes began to caress over my body as I continued to sink deeper and deeper into the moist soil. I remember reminding myself to remain calm and *feel* the experience. After the snakes became known, the sound of bones rattling increased until they reached a certain pitch, I lost my calm, became nervous and my consciousness shot off (like a taut slingshot) away from the soil and landed violently into an entirely different point of perception (of a different woman in an alternate world/timeline).
I'm really curious about the sinking into moist soil -> large snakes -> rattling bones layered symbolism and being lucid during it was such an awe-some experience! I'll probably write further details later on my journal.
So, hello, DV! And I'm sorry if my posts are super lengthy to some - I'm a fiction writer by trade, so... I can be wordy. Feel free to PM me or start up discussions, I'm friendly. :3
