      Cool Well....Hi!

      This is my first post

I came across this forum after doing a bit research after a dream I had the other night. It's been several months since I've had a dream I remembered, and this one affected me so deeply that it got the gears turning in my head.

      Backstory:
Pretty much for as long as I can remember, I have always recalled being able to identify that I am dreaming. I thought it was fairly common. I've also almost always been able to wake myself up if I felt uncomfortable or got scared. The times where it proved hard to wake up (like this last dream) were always the times that I then woke up unable to speak.

      Anyways...

The details of the dream aren't much fun, and for whatever reason, as petty as the dream was, it terrified me. I'm not sure if it was due to the fact that I've ALWAYS been able to tell myself to wake up when a dream is bothersome, and it didn't work out, or the contents of the actual dream (petty for someone my age, probably scary to say, a child).

I never knew that what I could do was considered Lucid Dreaming. I have probably only ever heard the term a handful of times. But by definition, lucid dreaming is being able to identify that you are dreaming... & controlling what you are doing and what you want to do. I haven't ever gotten to the point of creating this whole big super dream. I've always fallen into whatever dream my mind has developed for me, some perplexing, and never gotten further than running to someone, or doing some random task, and of course, making myself wake up from the dream.

After lurking around the forum a bit here at work I've decided I'd like to take it a bit further, and see what kind of fun I can really have. Most of the dreams I recall identifying as such & waking myself up from, are of a dark, scary nature, and I'd like to change that, and make them dreams that I don't want to wake up from right away!
