I'm a 30yo male, and have always been intrigued by lucid dreaming. I did a little research on how to initiate it (checking your watch 2x multiple times a day etc...) and it never worked.

My LDs are always spontaneous, but rare. Maybe 10 or less in the past year. Usually I wake right up after attaining lucidity, or forget about it and go back to normal dreamland. The couple times I was able to stay lucid for a few seconds I did the "check your watch twice" thing and sure enough, the watch was not only totally different but not even showing earthly characters.

But I've come upon a handicap lately... I can only sleep on my side, with a pillow to throw my leg over because my knees hurt if I use the standard "side sleeping position". (That's been my position forever, it's just now manifesting in dreams)

Ever since lucidity entered the picture, in every dream I have I feel laid out on my side whether I'm walking, driving, partying... and sleeping. That's my number one dream topic now- laying down while stuff happens around me. Maybe I'm participating in this stuff, but I'm acutely aware of my (real) physical position no matter what.

For example last night I was partying with charlie sheen, some random people from high school, and some women of ill repute (non lucid)... from his couch, laying on my side. Sucks no? How do you "bang 7 gram rocks" with the "winner" like that?

So does anyone else have this quirk where your actual physical position is effecting your dream life? I'd love to hear a technique to break it, but even just hearing others with similar stories would be cool.

Thanks!
