      Hello guys!

      Hi,

So I heard about this site from a friend and so I read the whole guide right away. I'm very thrilled about this lucid dreaming. I've had uncountable amounts of lucid dreams in my life but I never really knew how to intentionally make them happen. I didn't know it was even possible! Also I've had the problem of waking up the instant I'm realizing "Hey, this is a dream!". Actually the dreams never were fully lucid... I always wanted to try too much too fast so I lost control and waked up. So that's what I'm starting with.

I got so excited about this that I started a Dream Journal last night!. I only remembered one shortish dream that I had in the morning but at least it's something. I had an alarm set up in the middle of a presumed REM phase but it wasn't loud enough so I didn't wake up to it. I just remember I had "some" dream in the early night.

Anyhow, I want to make this work so could you give me some good pointers on how I could remember the dreams I had? I tried thinking to myself while I was falling asleep, but it didn't really work... Maybe I was too excited... I really was extremely excited last night.

Also I would like to know how often a skilled lucid dreamer actually has those dreams? Does he always have to make it happen? Or does he just recognise dream signs every (other/third) night?

I must say though, I feel really wierd doing the reality checks... but I guess it's pretty vital and you get used to it fast enough... What would be a working method to do those frequently enough? I don't have a digital watch that chimes every hour.

I don't know if I'm ready to induce a lucid dream right away...(Or am I?) First I have to find out my dream signs and all that. But if I wanted to try it, I guess i'd try HILD.

So I'd be happy to receive some helpful hints to begin with... Maybe something I haven't read before in the guide (on the mainpage).

Hi there! Great to see other Finns around here too

Dream journal is the way to go to improve your dream recall. It might be a bit difficult at first to remember dreams, but if you keep writing down everything you can recall, it should become easier. It just needs some time. And remember to really write everything you can remember, no matter how unnecessary it might feel.

If you know that you had "some" dream, try to concentrate on the feeling of that dream and how you feel at the moment. It might help you to remember even one thing about your dream and that usually helps to recall all of it. Also don't get up immediately after waking up, but stay still in your bed for some minutes trying to remember your dreams. Any actions might distract you from your dreams.

I don't think reality checking is really vital, but it's very important however. I had my first LDs with only the help of dream journal, attempting WILD every now and then and thinking about lucid dreaming a lot. However, reality checking helps you to greatly increase the frequency of lucid dreaming. When I was doing a lot of reality checks and remembering my dreams well I had LDs 2-3 times a week without much other efforts. (Now I'm kind of having a break with lucid dreaming).

However, I think you're ready to try induction techniques when you can recall at least 1 or so dream per night. I would suggest also trying WILD. It makes you think about lucid dreaming when you're falling asleep, and even if you don't succeed in it, you'll have a greater chance for DILD.

Also feel free to PM me if you want to ask something in Finnish. I'll try to help as well as I can
