      Hell-Oh.

21/m/IN. Moved around the US a lot with the mom, eventually settling here.

Deh. I decided to engage in LD after accidentally having one, a couple months ago, and not being able to recreate this. It had never happened before, and hasn't happened again. And so here we are, at the end of night one.

I hadn't really heard about lucid dreaming until recently, and decided to read up on it.
Very cool idea/prospect. I'm very adventurous, and would love the ability to actually take control of my dreams . A couple questions...

One, I really only remember having one dream a week, or every few days. Is this possible, or do I just not remember dreams that I have, because I enter new sleep periods ?

Anyway, just started keeping a dream journal/dedicating myself to LD, as of last night. I had a weird experience:

At first, I couldn't fall asleep. I kept saying to myself "I will be sure to wake up, and record my dreams", even though I had an alarm. It was keeping me up.
Eventually, I'd start to relax, and then I experienced a new feeling. It was unpleasant. It would feel like I was eternally sinking, even though I wasn't moving, while at the same time losing consciousness/dozing off. Also, my breathing would slow, to a complete stop. The worst part is that there was a burning sensation, all over my body, like suffocating. The breaths my body took became more and more shallow. I "went with this feeling",attempting to slip into unconsciousness, until I couldn't take the shallow breaths, anymore. I wasn't trying to suffocate myself, or stop breathing. My body did it on it's own, and I just went along with it. Eventually, I'd stop this feeling by "snapping out of it" .

      I didn't fall asleep for hours .

Eventually, I just stopped telling myself that I'd "be sure to wake up and record my dreams" or "try to do reality checks in my dream", like I've been doing in real life. I fell asleep, and had a rather...ridiculous dream. I didn't get to see it's conclusion, and in the dream, I just went along with it. I woke up before it "finished", and was sure to record every detail. The more I wrote, the more I was like "what the f*ck!? this is ridiculous. " So many details made no sense. Details that are common in a few of my dreams, actually. I attempted to go back to sleep, but to no avail.

      Hmph.

I have a hard time with normal dream recall too. You do in fact dream every single night, it's just a matter of remembering! Try to wake up gradually, to music rather than an alarm. Also lie with your eyes closed for a few minutes when you wake up and think really hard about it. If you can't remember anything at all, let your mind wander. This morning I couldn't remember any of my dream last night, but when i looked in my pocket i saw my lighter, which made me remember a whole dream segment, which led to other dream segments, until I eventually remembered the whole dream.

If your sleep patterns change you'll have a hard time remembering dreams until they stabilize, so don't get frustrated, just keep trying!

100% of the people I meet are idiots. If you are the one guy in the world who isn't an idiot, put this in your sig line.

Yeah...I randomly remembered another dream that I had , when I thought about this girl, for some reason...I remembered a dream I had, last night, with her in it, which, of course, made NO sense, because she went back to Japan. But of course, in the dream, I was just elated to reunite her...even though we were meeting 4 years before I met her in feal life .

I remembered it after a few hours of being awake, somehow.

      Meh.

I suppose more dream journaling what I should focus on, right now, right, and doing regular Reality Checks?
