      Smile Hello everyone!

I'm not big on introductions, but I figured I'd give a short background as it how I got here and my personal experiences with lucid dreaming. I've been interested in lucid dreaming for a year or two now, but I haven't used any techniques or taken any steps towards having regular lucid dreams. The main culprit for this was the huge amount of techniques and things you could do to improve your chances of lucid dreaming. It all seemed a bit daunting and I simply didn't have the time to go through all the WILDs, MILDs, DILDs, and other popular techniques. Before I move on, I'd like to say that I HAVE had lucid dreams before, and I still have them 6-7 times a year. That being said, about a week ago I decided I could spare the time and get a list of techniques that looked like they would work for me. I found this site two days ago while researching various WILD techniques, and this site grew on me rather quickly. I've compiled a few induction techniques to try over the next few months or so, starting with Harionago's "Rhythm Induced Lucid Dream" and going on from there. I will be trying the RILD technique tonight and will post the results tomorrow. I figure I'll give each technique a month or two and see which ones work best for me.

Well that's pretty much everything I can say about my experiences with lucid dreaming. I'm very happy I've found this site, and any beginners tips would be greatly appreciated.

      Hello Nova,

I am a bit of a beginner myself so I couldn't say too much. I assume you are journaling because that is a good place to start. What is a RILD anyway? This is my first time hearing of it.

RILD stands for "Rhythm Induced Lucid Dream." I don't believe it's an official technique, but the user "Harionago" posted a tutorial under the "Attaining Lucidity" sub-forum (If that's the correct term).
I tried this technique last night, but I think I woke myself up before I was in my REM cycle. I will try it over the weekend now and hope for the best.

I am keeping a dream journal, by the way. I've heard a lot of good things about it so I decided to start one last week. So far it hasn't helped me attain lucidity, but I will keep at it and hope for the best. I can usually remember my dreams, but I have trouble writing them on paper. I may get a tape-recorder so I can record my dreams faster, but I'm not sure about that yet. I've also been performing reality checks 12-18 times a day, so I'm hoping that helps as well.
