      First lucid dream...I guess?

Hey there guys, I have a question for you. I think I had my first lucid dream today, I'm not entirely sure though. Let me start of by giving you some background on my "Ld experiences" first. If you don't want to read this just skip to the last part where I tell you about the actual dream.

Let's say 2 years ago I found out about lucid dreaming and all of the awesome stuff you could do with it, from that point on tried getting one, but with no success. I would repeatedly write 'awake' on my hand for reality checks. I even tried getting into sleep paralysis, but neither that nor getting lucid worked.

Now for my first lucid dream today, I had to wake up at 11, but woke up at around 8 and went back to sleep shortly afterwards. This is, I suppose, where my lucid dream started. I'm going to school on my bike (bikes are really common in the Netherlands) and I see an old classmate of mine, in a really young state, like back when he was 8 or something. Then about a minute later I see my ex gf, also in a younger state. At this point the dream becomes lucid, I become aware that I'm dreaming and suddenly I'm actually riding my bike. I decide to rush home for some reason and once I entered my street I tried to fly, I tried to 'levitate' my body and at first it seemed like it was working, but then suddenly I woke up. (around 10 o clock)

Now my questions are, was this a lucid dream? I'm 90% sure it was but there's still a tiny bit of doubt in me.

And if it was, how can I prolong a lucid dream when I'm in one?

      Thank you

Ps. Let me apologise for my crappy English, I live in the Netherlands.

Definitely sounds like you had a lucid dream. If you're aware at any point you're dreaming within the dream, that's considered a lucid dream
The reason you're doubting yourself may be due to not being in full control of your actions due to becoming semi-lucid (your awareness level goes down)
For prolonging a dream, there's plenty of ways. There's plenty of threads/articles on the subject, here's one I like.

Wow, congratulations man! I still vividly remember my first purposely induced lucid dream, and that six years ago!

This means that your first lucid dream is a very large achievement. Good job, keep up the great work!

To prolong a dream, I recommend the dream chaining technique:

      1) dream spin when you feel your dream fading

      2) remain completely still with eyes closed to contrast the motion of spinning

      3) concentrate on leaving your body

This will multiply your lucid dream duration by a factor of five.
