      Good afternoon from the Netherlands

      Hello,

My name is Brian. A 23 year-old from the Netherlands. I'm already familiar with LD through accidental DILD.
I always thought LD was a rare occasion until I recently learned it is possible to learn this as a skill.
A quick search with google was enough to stumble upon this forum.

I had a few short LD's these past years from which I almost immediatly woke up. In the last two LD's I had last autumn I was able tot stabilize my dreams almost completely, although not perfectly. These two dreams were the main reason I started gathering more information about the subject.
In these last two dreams I was able to summon objects (like a glass of water) and interact with them (drinking water while knowing it is fake still felt very real). Although I was not able to summon environments and DC's.
Also, in my last LD I was suddenly aware of my positon in my bed, which resulted in me floating in a room, unable to move (like that video on youtube of Stephen Hawking experiencing weightlessness).

I already have one question. I am actively trying to WILD since last week, although I haven't succeeded yet. I know It can take weeks or months until your first LD. But every morning since I discovered the forum, I do remember having dreams during the night (although not lucid).
Does this mean I'm onto something? Is this a sign of a subconsious raise of awareness?

      Happy dreaming,

      Brian

Hi and welcome to DreamViews, Brainv6! The Netherlands are cool

Glad you found us! Congrats on the lucid dreams you've had so far.

Oh nice job on object summoning! It's so crazy to be able to drink and eat things, sometimes tasting the same or better than waking life. I once started an LD in bed, I got up and noticed a glass of water on my nightstand. I had a fleeting irrational thought that the water might be dirty, not knowing how long it'd been sitting there, but realized it's a dream so it doesn't matter. It turned out to taste pretty good. I also walked through a random person's house and picked up a bowl of cereal that was sitting on a counter and drank it

Keeping dreams on the mind by reading or thinking about it is a great way to increase recall and awareness. It's kind of showing your mind that dreams are something you want to remember and that you want to be lucid. So I think it's definitely a sign that you're progressing well

We have a really fun IRC/Chat, we talk about lucid dreaming and everything else as well. Come check it out if you'd like to hang out sometime: DreamViews Chat

I wish you luck on your lucid dreaming journey, I'll see you around the forums! ^_^

      Welcome!!

For WILD I would say something... be as simple as you can.

When you wake up in the middle of the night, write your dreams down, chant a couple mantras, drink water, pee, have sex if your partner is willing to... whatever... then, once you are intended to fall back asleep, just do it... set the intent to fall asleep, and have the goal of WILDing in the back of your mind. Meaning, keep conscious while you fall asleep, do not allow your mind to go wild, keep in a mind awake-body asleep state and just ignore everything you experience (hypnagogia, vibrations, atonia, etc) Observe everything from a very distant point, just while being relaxed until you visualize the dream forming.

I know I make it sound very simple, but it is, if you drop everything and just allow yourself to fall asleep with a minimum amount of awareness to stay lucid.
