      Hello!

Hello! I've been amazed by the topic of lucid dreaming for about a year, I even read Dr. Stephen LaBerge's book: The World of Lucid Dreaming, however, I still have not yet had a lucid dream!

Anyways, lately I've gotten really good at consistently doing things in my life because I learned a little trick called detaching yourself from the results. Basically, you keep a routine and make a habit out of it, but to keep at something I stop thinking so much about it and just do it. I stop stressing over the results in the short term and just keep at it because I trust that the results will follow.

So I wanted to start keeping a dream journal and performing reality checks again. I also thought I'd join a forum on it cause forums have helped me stay consistent in other things too.

Here's my approach. Write in my dream journal every morning and perform reality checks every time I notice myself sit down somewhere. Sitting down is my cue to performing a reality check so that I do it every time I sit down in a dream. My reality check is looking at my hands, studying them mindfully and counting the fingers on each hand. I also have been practicing mindful meditation for 30 minutes every morning.

I'm hoping this approach works. I'm not gonna do MILD or FILD or anything like that because I don't like to interrupt my sleep (I need it since I am about to have college classes early in the morning and I exercise and play a lot of sports), so the results may take longer but that is okay with me.

Thanks for reading, let me know if you have any other suggestions towards my approach!

No MILD, mild is just saying a mantra while falling asleep, you don't have to do it during Wake Back to Bed. If you insist on no MILD what about setting an intention.

I suggest you set an intention to dream about something impossible so that you notice it while dreaming. For instance try to dream about someone who isn't living, If you begin to dream about them often eventually you'll trigger off of them.

Ok so lets say you find yourself in a dreamscape and think to yourself its the middle of the night and I'm lucid and I just had a blast, I better not wake myself up so I remember, no I'll just stay asleep and hope I don't forget by morning. Lucids will interrupt your sleep if you successfully have one, because you'll most likely wake up or false awaken and forget, or lose lucidity and forget. Which of those three options sounds best?
Sure LUCID DREAMS are all fun and games until someone loses a third eye.

      Hello and welcome aboard!

It sounds like you're already on the right track. Check out our Lucid Task Of The Month and Year threads for some interesting things to do while lucid.

I think your method of detaching yourself from the result sounds great. I would recommend MILD over FILD (FILD is sort of a dodgy technique that only seems to work the first few times one tries it). If you choose the MILD, it involves sleep interruption. If you keep up the habits you've started (and MAYBE try a little WBTB every now and again) I'm sure you will have a lucid dream soon.
