      Hi :)

Hi, everyone. :) Just thought I'd introduce myself. I started trying to LD several years ago mostly to deal with nightmares, had a fair amount of success, but then just sort of stopped doing it. Unfortunately the nightmares are back, so I'm giving it a go again - I'd really like to either be able to avoid nightmares and LD instead, or realise when I'm in a nightmare and become lucid/control things.

Also, hey, flying is super fun.

      Welcome to the forum!

Sorry to hear about the nightmares, but lucid dreaming is definitely a great way to stop them at their source. You can always just make yourself wake up when you know you're dreaming, but it's more helpful (and fun) to confront the scary thing once you know it can't hurt you. If you need any help, check out the Nightmare Tutorial on the wiki.

Anyway, let us know if you have any questions, and come check us out in the IRC chat.

Thanks for the welcome, nice to meet you! Yeah, definitely my first goal is just being able to realise when I'm in a nightmare. A lot of them seem to be about being trapped, either literally trapped in a small space or stuck in a situation with no escape, so if I can start to figure out that I'm dreaming then hopefully I'll be able to provide my own way out of there.
