      Hi. New to this.

Hi. I found Dream Views yesterday and decided to join. I just started trying to have a Lucid dream. Sunday night I was on the computer at about 10:45 pm and my eyes drifted across "lucid dreaming". I thought "what's that?" and decides to look at it. It sounded pretty incredible so I tried it. I was up all night and didn't sleep at all. . Last night I tried again. That time I was a little more prepared. I put a pen, paper, and bottle of water (I wake up thirsty) next to my bed. I set two alarms. One for 4:15 and one for 6:15. All the dreams I've remembered happened around 6:15. I set the alarms to low volume so hopefully I would hear the alarm in my dream, realize what it was, and become lucid. The first alarm went off and I was sub-concious for a second or two then woke up. I don't remember dreaming. The second alarm went off and I woke up immediately.

My plan for tonight is to set an alarm for 3:30 and for 6:30. My goal is to remember a dream.

      Any suggestions?

Welcome to the world of Lucid Dreaming! It truly is a fantastic thing.

By the way, what were you doing when you saw Lucid Dreaming mentioned?

Anyway, your technique sounds a little unreliable. If I were you, I'd just get your dream recall up for the time being. I just 'told' myself to wake up after every dream I had, and oddly enough, it worked.

After that, I'd try your hand at a mix of WILD, MILD, and HILD.

HAve you ever been to www.howstuffworks.com? It's a great site. Anyway, just to see how many pages it would take to explain the mind, I searched for how the mind works. I passed "how the mind works" to look at some other topics. I saw "Lucid Dreaming", and "Dream Incubating".

Another problem I have is that it takes me a long time to fall asleep and I never feel it coming.

hey there. It takes me a long time to fall asleep too, but I have Lucid dreams. I think you should just start off by making sure you have good dreamcall, minium of 2 dreams remebred each night. You can also do reality checks. Those are when you perform some sort of test ( like putting your finger through yoru palm) periodly each day to test wheater you are in a dream, or are in real life.

I started doing regular reality checks Sunday. So far I haven't been in a dream . My dream recall has gotten slightly better. I used to just not remember dreams at all. Just last night I remembered a large portion of one dream and a fragment of another.

I'm still new to this forum, but what I've always done and I don't know if this is actually common knowledge because I found this without the internet. The first stepis to remove everything from your bed that might be a distraction. The second step is after creating a flat surface make sure there is no noise to distract you. After these steps you are prepaired to just relax.

The relaxing is important because with either closed eyes or open eyes just lay there allowing your mind to clear or slip away peacefully. Clearing the mind can be easy if you use focused breathing. By this I mean take in deep natural breaths that allow you to feel the beats of your own heart. At first you will notice fast heart beats, but then as they get slower you'll notice a calmness about your own body. This is just a relaxing technique that I learned on my own.
