Learn to realise your dreaming, in a dream

When you are in a dream, you can completely control the dream, on the basis that you realise that you are dreaming and not awake. To realise this at first is very tough and will take practice but it is mastered by simply checking that you are awake and not asleep during the day. Every half an hour think to yourself "Am i awake, or am i asleep?" and look around you and make sure that you are in fact awake, an not asleep. There is no need to pinch yourself or physically check yourself for awakeness at all, just ask yourself whether you are asleep or not. Doing this every half hour will help, but also do it when you see something unusual eg. déjá vu or something that you didn't expect eg. Somebody scaring you as a prank. If you master this to a point where it becomes automatic (person dependant that could take quite a while) then you are onto something. If mastered so you do it automatically, you will automatically do it when you are asleep because your body is used to checking. Of course if your body asks you this in your sleep, you will realise that you are in fact...asleep! The first couple of times you realise this, you may wake from your sleep, just as a effect of realising (a bit like shock) but after a while, you will stay asleep knowing that you are asleep. If you realise this, you can control your dream eg. If somebody is chasing you, you can create a brick wall infront of you to prevent them harming you, a bit like magic. This is done simply by putting it there as if you can do magic. If you become professional about this, you can go through your entire life without experiancing a nightmare, as any nightmares you do have, you can alter. If you can do this...well done! Thank you, that was my first post on this site

      yours thankfully,

Hey there, welcome to the forum!

It's great that you already know alot about doing reality checks throughout the day in order to help attain lucidity at night. Some people find it necessary to perform physical reality checks (RCs) instead of just mental ones like you talk about because our minds have a tendancy to trick us. I usually just do mental ones though...and not very often

If you have questions about anything feel free to PM a Dream Guide at any time.
