Quoting from my conceptual journal of dreaming...

For inducing lucid dreams by intent, you should focus more on actual intent rather than “the perfect phrase to repeat to myself.” *There’s no magic phrase that’s going to trigger your subconscious to do a desired tasked. *If I said to myself in the morning, “On my way home from school today I am going to buy some milk,” I wouldn't expect to actually remember to do that unless I really intended to and kept reminding myself to do it all day. Even then I would probably forget to do it.

This is why it's important to find cues in your dreams to remind you of your intent (such as dream signs), just like you'd need cues in waking life to remind you to do something–writing notes on my hand is quite effective, but this probably won’t work so well in the dream world.
I realize that, but while I'm meditating I repeat the phrase while focusing on the intent. Then I usaully use MILD when I go to sleep.
