      Newbie in a rut..

Hey everyone.. I'm new Anywho.. I have been remembering a lot of my dreams lately and I just can't get to the point of lucidity.. In all of my dreams no matter how bizarre it gets, I can't realize in my dreams that I am actually dreaming. I only realize the bizzareness of my dream when i wake up. I am starting to reality checks and i dunno if its helping.. I do the nose thing, and look at the time, and nothin.. I sometimes do them throughout the day and the evening and when i wake up.. but sadly no LD.

When I was a kid I remember having a few LD's and I remember them because they were THAT amazing.. That is one of the reasons I want to try and have them again..

Any help at all would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to Dream Views. How many dreams are you remembering a night, and how often are you doing your reality checks? IF those are not working you should try a WBTB or MILD. Both methods are explained in great detail in the tutorial section. Sometimes methods just work better than reality checks for some people.

EDIT: fixex MBTB to WBTB.. dam my odd spelling problems

Heh, you might wanna flip that \"M\" in \"MBTB\" and make it a \"W\", Thadius.

Yeah, not recognizing the bizarness in a dream until AFTER is probably the most frustrating and common problem most have. Unfortunately, it's also pretty much the main ingredient needed to become lucid! (at least through DILD).

No need to disclose your age, but if you're now over maybe... 25 or so, there are certain chemicals in your brain that are starting to wind down. One of these chemicals is Acetylcholine. Studies are being done (one of which I recently took part in) on how this effects lucid dreaming. This may at least explain why you might find that it was easier to LD when you were a kid. There are supplements out there which can boost the levels of these chemicals and aid in your efforts. With some research you may find these online (I cannot disclose which I am currently trying ), however, I have seen this supplement posted on this site.

I usually remember 2 or 3 dreams per night.. But anywho.. I'm not sure but i think i may have had a low level LD last night. I woke up in my bed.. or so I thought.. and I decided that maybe I was still dreaming for some reason or another, so I did the nose technique. I held my nose and i was blowing air out and i tried it like 4 times and I was a little freaked out at first and I almost woke up, so I closed my eyes and shook my head around to get me back into it, and i stood up and spun around, and i recall ending up in my living room.. After this I remember not having a whole lot of control but i knew it was a dream, i remember running around screaming just because I could, just because it was a dream. .... What a waste of an LD!!!

      Learning to LD

      Hey Thadius

I am with you on trying and not being able to LD. I have done it a few times in the past and usually I can if I wake from a dream during the middle of the night and while I am still sleepy I think of what I would like to have done in that same dream. I think on it heavily until I fall back asleep and usually, not always, but usually I can do what i was thinking of.
I would like to find a supliment to take at night if it would help in this but I have no idea where to even begin to look for something like that.

Whats the whole "spinning" thing about? I have read it in the tutorial but did not understand it clearly.. Do you just imagine yourself spinning or something?

Thanks and btw welcome to the site

I think the spinning is supposed to help you maintain the LD. You are supposed to do that every once and a while just to keep your mind occupied so that you dont slip out.. I think..
