Yeah, not recognizing the bizarness in a dream until AFTER is probably the most frustrating and common problem most have. Unfortunately, it's also pretty much the main ingredient needed to become lucid! (at least through DILD).

No need to disclose your age, but if you're now over maybe... 25 or so, there are certain chemicals in your brain that are starting to wind down. One of these chemicals is Acetylcholine. Studies are being done (one of which I recently took part in) on how this effects lucid dreaming. This may at least explain why you might find that it was easier to LD when you were a kid. There are supplements out there which can boost the levels of these chemicals and aid in your efforts. With some research you may find these online (I cannot disclose which I am currently trying ), however, I have seen this supplement posted on this site.
