      Having Dreams

I think I've come to a conclusion. Before I can actually have a LD, I need to regularly have dreams every night that I can remember. Is a dream diary the only way to help induce even normal dreams, rather than going onto lucid ones

      That's a pretty sound conclusion.

A dream journal is probably the best way to improve your recall. You can also use auto-suggestion. When you are going to sleep, tell yourself "I will awaken after I dream, and I will remember the dream." Make sure you have a notepad handy, so that when you do wake up, you can write down whatever you remember right away. If you don't, chances are pretty good that you will forget it.
