On the need to write things down...

Last night, I had a dream. I woke up and went through the dream in my head. Now normally, I'm really good at immediately writing scribbled notes in my DJ, but for some reason, last night I went straight back to sleep and now, all I can recall is that there were 2 old men involved but after that, I have nothing.

      Very disappointed in myself.

I blame my cat. He came for snuggles when he knew I was awake.

      Darn cats!

Don't get dissapointed. You may have just been very tired. We all have had moments where it is the last thing on earth we would want to do is to get out of a warm comfortable bed.
Just don't do it next time!

I feel I must. I have a pad and pen right next to the bed to scribble on. I sleep with the blinds open so there's enough light to not have to turn lights on. I just plain didn't do it.

      But lesson learned.

Well I am glad you plan to be diligent!

Some members have found a small voice recorder to be handy.

Sometimes, no matter what you do to prepare for your awakening dream scribbles, you loose your train of thought. Don't get mad. There's always tommorow.

Agh.... yeah, I've been doing this exact same thing, waking up after a dream and then falling back to sleep, for the past three nights, but last night (it's 5:30am here in NZ now) I got the hang of it... I "conquered" the falling-back-to-sleep thing.

Here's how I did it: by the bed, I keep a king-sized block of chocolate. Cadbury Black Forest, it's my favourite. So before I snozzled off to sleep, I break off six squares and keep it on the bedside table, next to my dream journal, alarm, and drink bottle. So, instead of telling myself and training myself "After dream, wake up and remember it" I tell myself "After dream, wake up and eat chocolate".

So last night, I had a dream, woke up, and remembered it. The first thing I did was grab the chocolate and stuff it in my gob. THEN I remembered "damn... okay, gotta right this dream down!" so I did. And it worked.

Except after then, I couldn't get back to sleep (I always have trouble getting back to sleep after I've woken up) so I only got bout 5 hours sleep last night. Which sucks. Which is ALSO why I'm sitting here at 5:30 am typing. GRRRR!!!!!

So... I say, try the chocolate thing. It works.

Maybe when you crawl back into bed tonight you'll remember more. That always happens to me. As soon as I lay down on my pillow, I'll get flashes of my previous nights' dreams (even ones I didn't remember in the first place).
