HI, new here, no lucid dreams yet

      Hi,

only just found this site, looking for places to discuss the world of dreams and sleep. Is this board specificaly for lucid dreams or for dreams in general? Ive tried lucid dreaming for a while, but i got throuh phases of not being able to recall my dreams and then recalling them so much that i feel exhausted in the day and have to stop writing them down in order to forget them on waking again-so i haven't really had much chance to manage it. A couple of times i have realised upon noticing recurring symbols, or bizarre things happenning but as soon as i do i wake up, any tips for how not to wake up or what to do once i realise?
Im very interested in working out the meaning of dreams and i keep a book of all my dream symbols and what they seem to mean to me, although new ones tend to crop up as my life changes, but help with figuring out meanings would be great, if i can do that here.

Hey there, and welcome to the forum.
The answer to that is this board is specifically for Lucid Dreaming, which is why it is called the 'Lucid Dreaming Forum'.
Have you tried keeping a DJ? That would seriously help with that recall of yours if you did. It is also common for beginners to wake up upon Lucidity, simply because they get too excited. The key here is to keep calm once you reach Lucidity, and don't get too excited.
If you want to receive help on them, you might want to check out the Dream Interpretation Forum, and post them in there. Just so you know that you are the one that can best interpret them.
And if you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Welcome to DV! This site is largely dedicated to lucid dreams, but we talk about general dream-related stuff all the time.

As for waking up when you become lucid, that happens all the time, especially with people who have not had a great deal of LDs. The biggest thing is just to relax. Feel the dream around you; feel what it's like to be in a dream, and if you feel it changing and you think you're going to wake up, just relax and project that feeling of being in a dream. It takes practice and I won't claim to be an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but that is my advice.

Anyway, if you need anything else just drop us a note. See you around!

Hi, Thanks, I have kept a dream journal for about 6 years now-although i do stop for a few months if i get too many dreams recalled. I have been trying to lucid dream for most of that time, maybe i just can't. i guess there must be some people who can't at all even with trying. I've read lots of books on techniques and stuff, but nothing seems to work. The few i do have, i only seem to realise i am dreaming right at the end of a long dream, and it seems almost like that was the natural conclusion-for me to have that realisation. I don't see how i can stay in the dream past that. I guess il have to keep trying.

That sounds like me, Delerium. Even though I'm a DG, here I only have an LD once a month or once every two months or so, and it's always at the end of a dream. However, for me it's not something that I will lose sleep over, pardon the expression.

But if you really want it and have the confidence that you will realize that you're dreaming it will happen in time. Just be prepared for when it does.
