      Eager to start Lucid Dreaming!

      Hey guys,
I'm Pace. First off I would like to say this is one of the nicest, friendliest webistes I have been to. I'm sixteen, and I am a student. Over the years I have experienced Lucid dreams a couple of times, and really liked the conrol I had over my dreams. Recently, I have questioned if it was possible to control dreams like the snap of a finger. I started researching, looking at different websites, and absorbing information. I bounced on top of this website, and really found it to be well constructed and people friendly. Just wanted you all to know I'm quite hypnotized by this lucid concept. I have started a dream journal just days ago, and last night actually had a lucid dream. I did a "reality check" (looking at writing twice), and noticed I was actually dreaming. Yet, as I became enlightened, my heart started beating, and I quickly woke. This makes me that more determined to conquer this concept. Look forward to sharing, listening, and most of all learning everyone's ideas about lucid dreaming!

      Hey Pace and

Thanks for the kudos on the site - we're quite proud not only of the extensive information on the site, but the friendliness of the community as a whole as well. It is this attitude that allows information to flow freely between members without fear of being judged or ridiculed.

      Congrats on your lucid dream

Hey, no worries as this is common for first few times. There are many methods for extending lucidity and I encourage you to browse our tutorial section and other sections for them. I can start you off with one technique which has worked for me and is one of the best to use, and that is next time you become lucid take the time to look at your hands and study them. If you ever feel the lucidity slipping away, rub them together.

The point is to keep your mind focused on one thing at a time and to also give your mind some sensory imput so that it stays focused on things happening WITHIN the dream and not so much with your physical body lying on the bed.

If there is anything you would like to ask in private, feel free to PM me or any of the staff members (preferably Dream Guides) and we'd be happy to help you out.

Good luck and I look forward to hearing more about your lucid experiences!

Hey there and welcome to the forum!!
It is quite common for you to get excited in a LD. The best thing to do is keep calm, and go with the flow for a bit. Once you learn to do that, you can try controlling them as well!
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Yes, LD is only the beginning, but still, I think you can do more with a LD than that.
I take it you are mostly going to post in Beyond Dreaming, right? And if you are really going to get into depth with that, I would recommend this website.

That's cool. I was just wondering, b/c many of the members just go to the Beyond Dreaming section mostly. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but this is a LD forum!

Ok, Basically, I have had 3 lucid dreams in the past 2 weeks. 1st - I became too excited and woke up. 2nd - " " 3rd - I finally was able to rub my hands together and keep myself in the dream. I decided to fly, and went up about 10 feet (it was one of the coolest experiences ever, bytheway), but then I closed my eyes ------> and somehow that made me wake up. Has this happened to anyone else?

Ok, funny thing - I just posted something about this earlier today in this thread. You might want to read it.

Basically, going to sleep within a dream has the opposite effect as in waking life. Closing your eyes and deciding to go to sleep will essentially have a "shut down" effect on your dream "session" and therefore, wake up.

Glad to hear the rubbing hands technique worked! One of my first LDs (before I knew about the technique) involved flying and dogfighting with an F-15 and I think F-18! So real I could read the markings on both aircraft!
