      Alittle Intro from a Newb

Well, thought I'd introduce myself, as well as ask some general questions about LD

I'm 18 years old, and I've had my fair share of Lucid Dreams (back when I used to just refer to them a "controlling my dreams", as I didn't know of the term Lucid Dream).

Ok, and now for my questions

      1. Sometimes I have sleep paralysis. My first episode of it, I remember, I was either 6 or 7... Since then, I think I've had it on average about twice a year, can this be related to LD at all?

      2. Sometimes I can't help but to think of something "bad" or "evil" in a LD, and it all happens so fast, so fast I'll usually loose control of the dream. I just need some suggestions on how to control this.

      3. I have a problem with flying in my LDs. I really want to fly but when I'm in a LD, I'll jump up and fall right back down, or sometimes when I do fly, I'll suddenly start falling to the earth (usually I get an out of control thing, where I'll fall upward into the sky really high, and plummet back to earth, and this repeats sometimes, and its just all out of control, sometimes I can regain control, but if I do, I usually forget I'm in a LD. Other times I wake up).

      4. What's WILD, MILD, DILD, all these other abbreviations stand for. I have the ability to wake myself up from a dream, I learned this after countless nightmares when I was younger, I used to be able to get myself out of them before anything terryfying to could happpen sometimes, does that stand for anything?

That's about it for now. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

It's a dream be as evil as you want! I don't think that's the reason that you lose control

I usually start jumping, getting higher in the air with every jump until I start flying. There are many ways you can fly. The only thing you have to do is find a technique that helps you to imagine it. There are some good ways in this tutorial.

Look for them in the tutorials section.

Hey there, welcome to Dream Views!

      In asnwer to your questions:

      1. Sleep paralysis is what happens during REM cycles of sleep, which is when you dream. Your body is completely paralysed, which stops you from acting out your dreams. If you can get to this stage, then it can be quite a useful way of inducing lucid dreams. Some other members may be better able to help you in that area though, as I myself have only experienced it once.

      2. I'm not quite sure what you mean by this question, could you explain yourself a bit more clearly? Just remember that it is your dream, and you have complete control over it. Relieve yourself of any negative thoughts because you have nothing to fear!

      4. Acronym List

If you can wake yourself up from a dream, then it must mean that at that time you are aware that you are dreaming, and therefore lucid! The next step beyond this is to maintain the awareness of being in a dream, but NOT to wake yourself up.

      Hope I helped!

I have a long ways to go.

Last night I tried doing a WILD...

Well, last night I go to bed at 12:45AM. So I'm laying there. I got to a point where a bunch of images started to flash, started hearing random things in my head, and then it kind of went dead, but I think I was concious the whole time, because when I decided give up and snap out of it, it was 3:10AM, and it felt like maybe half an hour to me.

Also, I had dreams last night, where I was thinking about the term "lucid dreams" but for some reason I guess I just thought my dreams were real. Guess I need to practice "reality check".

Might start a log to see my progress.
