      newbie needs help

Hey guys, glad to find this incredible site and forum! I´ve been recalling dreams for 5 days now, and constantly (not sooo much for the last 2 days) questioning reality while awake, but im not even close to getting lucid in my dreams! Anyone have any tips on what i should focus on more? What reality check works the best for the most of you!? I keep trying to read things twice, keep asking myself if im awake , etc..

Well any inputs would be appreciated!

      Thank you very much.

      Cheers

Hey there and welcome to the forum!

The best thing you can do is keep calm, and to keep on trying. Maybe even start doing RCs in real time for start. You might also want to take a look at the tutorials as well.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

welcome to the forum! you're doin' awesome so far! just don't get discouraged. results often take time to take place, so keep at it! other than that you seem to be doing fine, just do what you do and you'll be getting lucid in no time.

oh and also follow nesgirl's advice, she's a smart one. visit tuorial section and ask plenty o' questions!

Welcome to the forum! It's good you're working on your recall and doing reality checks.

Have you started a dream journal yet? If not - that's your next piece of homework! Dream journals are important to training your mind to remember dreams, and also to recognize patterns within them that will help you become lucid. Feel free to utilize DV's Dream Journal if you'd like.

You may want to try some different techniques in the tutorials as well.

Just because you haven't LDed yet doesn't mean you're doing something wrong. You haven't even been at it for a whole week yet! Give it time - relax, keep practicing and trying new things.

      Good luck and have fun!

      first of all, to dreamviews!

second, find a technique in the tutorial section (link provided in above post). work on that for a while. OH YEAH! KEEP A DREAM JOURNAL (DJ)!!!!! they are INFINITELY helpful. what good is an LD if you cant remember it? once you can remember about 2-3 dreams EVERY night, you should have a lucid dream at least ONCE by pure coincidence. i dont think many people use RC as a way to become lucid, but more as a way to check if you are dreaming. so ya. 1)rememver dreams 2)pick a technique 3)practice 4)more practice... you'll get good at it. GOOD LUCK!!!

A dream journal isn't just good for lucidity, either- he dreamwork that I have done over the past few years has led to my dream alter-ego being more powerful and my dreams in general being more detailed and interesting (whether or not I am actually lucid). It's worth it just for that.

Anyway, I'd actually recommend against DVs Journal. Isn't that a public dream journal? If you're like me, you probably have plenty of dreams you'd rather not share. But you should write them down anyway.

I might head on over to the DJ section, though. I used to be a member of an online dream sharing group and I kind of miss that. Some of the members were new-age nutters, though.

The dream journal on here has a private entry function if there is a dream you really don't want to share. However, your first post must be public. After that, you can have all your dreams as private entries if you like.
I keep two journals, a handwritten one, and the one on here, which is a typed version of the handwritten one.
If i have a dream i don't want made public, i either make it a private entry, or don't put it in at all. No one else is any the wiser.

Now, what's the point of using the privacy feature to post your online journal when you can keep your dreams private by writing them in a notebook or in a word processing program on your computer anyway? I think that's silly. Little sense in using the online journal feature except for the odd dream you want to share, IMHO.

Meaning, it stays in my handwritten journal, and doesn't get written up.

Yah. I use a notebook DJ as well, so, when I first wake up I write in my notebook in rough detail, and then enter dreams from my notebook into my DV DJ later in the day in much greater detail. I find it helps and acts as a sort of "reinforcer"... plus, I don't mind other people reading MOST of my dreams... I make pretty much everything public, unless there's the slightest chance it could embarass somebody from real-life (people I know in real life know I go to this forum and occaisionally may read my DJ) or from DV.
