      Was this a LD?

I had heard of LDing before, but I had no idea what it was, so I decided to research it last night and I found this website. I looked through the tutorials and I found it really interesting, and read through the site for about two hours. So anyways, when I went to bed I didn't really try to have an LD, I just went to sleep. I had a dream anyways though, and here's how it went, but it was really short.

I felt myself waking up and sat up in my bed. Then, even though I THINK I didn't choose to do it, I plugged my nose but I was still able to dream, and I though to myself, "I'm dreaming!." After that, I sort of "saw" myself sleeping, but I though I was actually waking up, and then the dream ended and everything went black, and then I woke up in the real world.

I don't know if I was actually lucid, or if I was just dreaming ABOUT being lucid. Can anyone answer this?

I also have a second question. I just read the section about WILDs and then I realized something. I had felt those "vibrations" before. For some reason whenever I had lain down and just thought (I always though of myself on a never-ending roller coaster not thinking of anything else), I would feel a jolt and snap awake, and felt the feeling you get when somebody pops out at you and they say, "BOO!" Can anybody tell me how to stay "half-asleep" when those jolts hit you?

      Thanks

That's all it takes to be considered a lucid dream.

As far as staying in the vibrations... I don't have enough experience...

Sounds like you had an LD to me! Well done!

I think the jolts you are referring to are called hypnic jerks. I know what you mean about jolting awake after you have one, but I usually don't have any trouble settling back down and falling straight back to sleep. Maybe try some deep breathing exericises.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

No, they dont happen all the time, only when I'm laying in bed and go into deep thought. If I try to actually go to sleep normally it doesn't happen.

Thanks for answering my questions everyone, it looks like I'm going to have a lot of fun here.
