That's pretty common, especially if you haven't had many LDs before. Don't worry about it, you'll learn to stay calm and keep the dream going for longer periods.

I'd say that's very likely. One of the most important things in controlling your dreams is to have the utmost confidence that what you want to happen, will happen.
As to your other questions, yes, you should get better with practice, and LDs should come more easily now that you've "broken the ice" and know what to expect -- but it still will require dedication on your part. They usually won't just happen automatically.
